Since Sage Rosenfels knows how to run our offense and Atl's offense is similar according to Schaub. I say we trade Sage to Atl. for their 2nd round pick in next years draft.....That is if Zabransky is catching on to what we are doing here.
What are your thought?

It's not bright to not have an experienced back up in the NFL since QB's get hurt so much...he can't bring a two anyway... I think that around the league most view Sage as a Gifford Neilson/Billy Volek/Frank Reich quality QB....i.e. good enough to come in and play in a pinch but is exposed as a starter.

I like it. If we had playoff expectations (seriously... really) I'd keep Sage. But in our case, if Z looks like he can develop, I'd do it. If Matt were to go down, Z could step in and get valuable playing time setting us up for a Playoff run over the next couple years.
Not having that 2nd rounder hurts They're usually a great combination of being good AND still hungry as they want to get to that pay-day; second contract.

Trading Sage would take our QB position from a strength to a weakness. Atlanta showed us that you cannot rely on the starter being available the entire season. If we are going to trade a QB, it should be Quinton Porter (no way they are desperate enough to take Van Pelt). It would be even nicer if we could work a three way trade with KC to get their backup Safety give them Porter and then they work out a trade.

horrible idea, first off the falcons would probally throw that proposal to the dogs(haha) and second off, the houston front office would laugh at that idea. I love Z, i was stoked to see him play saturday, but if schaub goes down who would you want in there sage or big Z? i say sage 100%, if you have a solid backup that means you have depth, a comfort zone, it dosent mean you have a pile of leverage to barter with, championship teams have depth, wildcard teams dont

If we could possibly get plummer out of retirment, then ill send them sage for a 2nd or 3rd. As much as i want that 2nd ronder back, Im not comfortable with zabransky playing much this season if schaub goes down.

Trade our back up QB to get our second round pick back that we gave them for their back up QB, your idea is very diabolical. But I dont think we can get a second rounder for Sage, he is flying under most teams radar. Trading him is an option only if we could get something useful in return. Maybe when the regular season begins and someones starting QB goes down Sage's trade value will go up. A trade would have to be really worthwhile for the Texans to consider it because Rosefels knows how to lead this offense.

He does not know their offense anymore Petrino runs a more physical vertical style passing game so Sage wouldn't be smart. Send em bradlee van Cut get some value for him.

more physical vertical style does not suit Van Sux either....so I guess we are S.O.L on this one...

There's no way we can get a 2 for him.
You would need all of Atlanta's QBs to have been involved in Vick's dogfighting for that to even become plausible.

I think if Trent Green was traded for a fifth round pick, Rosenfels goes for a 7th round pick and a nice steak dinner.

I think ATL's most viable option would be to try to get Brian Greise from the Bears

i can give you my thoughts on trade proposals in general....theyre stupid. sure they give people something to talk about, but thats just it. personally, i am more into the reality of how things work and not so much into how we as fans want them to work.
but to answer your idea, i say no to that. as long as schaub still hasnt proven much as an NFL starter in a regular season and worst case scenario, he falters, then we will need sage if we have any chance of staying respectable. personally, i think schaub will be great for us....but lets wait and see
