We are always so negative on this board. Part of being a fan (although not all of it) is sharing in the good things about ones team. So, I figured that there should be a thread discussing only what is positive about the team. Whether it be a surprising strength of the team, good facts about some of the players, etc.

Coming into the season, it seemed like WR and LB were going to be two glaring weaknesses. I am pleasantly surprised that they are now strengths of the team. I really like that Mathis has gotten his act together and has realized that athletic ability alone will not get him very far in the NFL, and that Jacoby Jones seems like the perfect combination of ability and willpower. As far as linebackers go, I still don't think that we have one of the best groups in the NFL, but we aren't too far away.

I imagine that this thread is going to die, because "feel goods" aren't very interesting and nobody really likes to give praise. But, I'd like to hear some other things that you all think are big positives about the team.

One extremely important 6 letter name....Schaub. Forget all the other question marks...this one was/is the biggest and looks to be extremely positive so far.

I've been impressed with the defense despite the number of yards we've given up. Bend but not break. Worked for the bears and colts right? That's what I've seen so far. Very happy with it.

Hey another positive is you have to face Jacksonville twice this season and you always seem to have are number.

So far I am impressed with the O-line, even with the 2nd string. I think the fact that Schaub and Sage get rid of the ball quick so the lineman do not have to hold blocks for ever and a day is gonna make the O-line an after thought. The 2nd string is comforting because these are the guys that will replace the starter if they get hurt and if they step in without missing a beat, then noting gets slowed down.

I have to cosign with this one. one question though...base on the good pocket protection during last 2 game, is schaub responsibility to take the oline to dinner for keeping him get into "fetal" position or is it the oline turned to take schaub to a vacation cause he make them believe in themselves after 5 years taking blame for "you know who" .

I can't say I couldn't have written that better, but you get kudos for posing the question.

didn't think that needed to be said... We automatically have more wins than Oakland...

The return game is a big strength for the Texans.

Mathis has already proven himself to be an outstanding kickoff returner.
Jones is showing a lot of potential as a punt returner.
Wynn did a fabulous job last year at both and is a great backup in case either Jones or Mathis gets injured.

If I was Schaub, it would be "Take care of me and I'll take care of you!" The O-lineman are the unsung heroes of the QB's success, always remember that...

That was not a diss my freind that was a joke and a true one at that, the Texans finds ways to be my Jags a lot. I see the Texans winning any were from 7 to 8 games this year, this team is growing up and has a lot of talent but are stuck in a tough division.

I was just making a joke too, because all of the games against the jags are very hard fought games on both sides, we just seem to come out on top more...

1. I, too, have been pleasantly surprised of how well the O-line has performed to this point. I think this is contributed to the the QB's better pocket awareness and the extra effort being given as a whole by the O-line and RB's.

2. Even though the defense has not played to my personal expectations so far this preseason, they have still been pretty solid. If you take away a couple of blown coverages and some the small number of bad plays by the D-line, they have made leaps and bounds so far.

3. And last but not least.....JACOBY JONES. I was kind of "on the fence" with this young man when we drafted him with so may more well known names still on the board in front of him....But, MAN!!! This kid can play. I am still not sure if the main reason he is doing so well is his athletic ability or his heart, but he is sure making Kevin Walter loose sleep at night.

1. schaub, i cant say enough. huge upgrade.

2.o-line, 0 sacks for the starter in pass protection. need to get crisper in the running game, but i am positive things will be ironed out. thats what the preseason is for.

3. JJ, his first punt return in the first game was nice. his 3rd quarter punt return in the 2nd game he didnt make the same mistake as he did on the first. i think this kid is a quick study, i dont want to say special player yet. but he looks like a threat to be concerned with when he is on the field.

4. depth, this team has more depth then it has ever had. there is alot more competition on this team and that makes a much better football team.

I would like to say that i am pleased with the ballte for the punter position. If we can get good punts and good punt coverage then we will really make these teams work for thier points with the improving Defecse we have.

Agreed out return game looks like it can be tops in the NFL.

I've been impressed with how constantly our offense gets into the redzone and how our defense gives up tons of yards but not touchdowns. I say screw the philosophy of just 4 down blitz i say bring blitz all day!!!!!!!!!!!... sorry my favorite team is the ravens so im used to watching the qbs get harassed all day long. I think the texans have the same kind of potential but we are missing a Safety who can play center field

Strange indeed how much better our offensive line has gotten since we also got a better QB.

Besides being pleasantly surprised with the play so far of our WRs amd LBs, I am ecstatic over the play of our STs since JJ has arrived, and Mathis has finally grown up and seen that he needs to keep his hammies flexible.:)

i too am impressed with our redzone appearences but we need to get into the endzone not just field goals otherwise we go nowhere this year

Seconded. Hopefully we can work out those kinks in the offenseive gameplan to get the 6 instead of the 3.

Here's another positive- multiple 20+ yard passes from our starting QB. As a sub-note, several long pass attempts by our starting QB. Carr would rarely even try long passes because he was scared of being sacked before the receivers got open.

And how about this one, which isn't necessarily on-the-field: our players are basically all upstanding citizens who don't go around doing dumb things and getting into trouble with the law (at least we never hear about them getting into trouble). How many other NFL teams can say that?
