Hi all,
I'ma planning on getting DirectTV and the sunday ticket for the 2007. But from what i read on directTV's website, there will be blackout games even if you paid for sunday ticket. So, my question is, how can I be sure that the Texans' games will not be blackout here in FLL? Any answers/advices will be appreciated. Thank you.

You will get the Texans games. The only game in your area that would be subject to blackout if you are in Ft Lauderdale is the Dolphins games.

I have direct tv and the only games that are blacked out are the ones that are showing on your regular tv listings for that day. All the other games are on,

As I understand it, the blackout games are applicable to stadiums that do not sell out per the NFL guidelines. I have read on here that the Texans have a 10 year guarantee of televised games regardless of sellouts? Maybe someone in the know can shed light on that part.

Good news about the Sunday Ticket. If you signed up this weekend you would get the Superfan for free. You need the Superfan pack to get games in HD. Last year most of the Texans games were broadcast in SD. Looks like almost all or all will be in HD this year.
Based on the CBS announcement 4/24/07 that they will do up to 6 HD NFLGames per week for the 2007 season, I did a week to week review of thecoming schedule to see what impact CBS's change of heart brought about:
1. We will now have 96% of the NFL 2007 Season in HD!!
2. Of the 256 games played this year, only 15 will be done in SD.
3. Through the season, FOX which has the NFC, will have 8 SD games.
4. Through the season, CBS which has the AFC, will have 7 SD games.
5. Weeks 1, 5, 6, 9, 12 and 15 will be 100% HD -- no SD games anywhere for those 6 weeks.

I got DirecTv for the first time last year and LOVED finally seeing Houston football. I'm wondering what packet you have to order in order to get Fox Sports Southwest so I can keep up on other Houston sports happenings. Appreciate any information you could pass along

DirecTv has a sports channel package that will give you all the Fox Sports channels, & then some. But do take note that this will not give you the broadcast of the professional sports games (i.e. Astros, Rockets, most major college events). They will be blacked out in order to force the people who want to see them to purchase the specific extra packages (i.e. Major League Baseball games, National Basketball Legue games) & then you have to buy the whole package rather than just specific teams/games.
I heard at one time there was a lawsuit, brought up against multiple parties, to force an "ala cart" choice of games (sort of a PPV setup), rather than the all or nothing we have now, but I never did hear how it was resolved or at what stage the lawsuit was in. I hope this answered your questions, but if it didn't, just contact DirecTv & I am sure they can fill in areas I might not have mentioned/covered.

FLLTexans, where in FLL are you? My wife's family lives in FLL - Margate to be exact.
Maybe if I come down for a weekend during the Texans season, maybe we can hook up for a game!

Just an FYI on the FSW thing, You will not get all of the astros games if you are out of market due to the Major league extra innings not wanting to broadcast those games for free. I have noticed in Dallas I can see astros baseball when the Rangers are not playing a game other than that they usually get not available.
However the sunday ticket you should get them all unless they are the early game in your broadcast area. I love the sunday ticket personally I don't know How I lived life without it..

One last question. I started my first season of Sunday Ticket last October so never went through a pre-season with DirecTV. Does DirecTV show pre-season games?
