i think this guy will have a great season and all....whats the mb's thought on whether he starts off hot and then hits a break wall like Tony Romo and Ben Rothlisburger....do you guys think he does well in the beginning and then when team has more film they begin to slow or shut him down? i think this will actually show what type of player he will be....look for a great start and then somewhere near mid season look to see if he hits a "break wall"......

It wouldn't surprise me if that were to happen, since it happens to most every QB. How he overcomes that once it occurs will be the deciding factor on our season, in the short term, and his career, in the long term. A big thing that will help him is the fact that he has mutliple weapons and goes through his reads well. Also, everything I have read is that he is a warrior in the film room, so once he starts seeing mixed results, he should be able to make corrections where they are needed. It also helps that our head coach is a former QB who has worked with Elway, Young, and Plummer, who had his best years with Kubiak in Denver.

He's had 4 NFL training camps so it's not like he is a rookie out there and is new to NFL defenses. I think he is going to be consistant and play well all year.

Matt Schaub will...
-Play Efficient
-Spread the ball around
-Make intelligent decisions
-Avoid the Rush
-Throw the ball away before taking the sack
-Remind you of Tom Brady
Matt Schaub will not...
-Be flashy
-Make stupid errors
-Get Happy Feet
-Focus in on Andre Johnson
-Remind you of David Carr

Matt Schaub is going to make Houston proud. He's not perfect, but he's a gifted, intellegent QB. I have all the faith in the world that if Schaub makes mistakes, he'll learn from them. That's what seperates good QB's from bad ones.

ok i get and agree with all of this but do you think at some point in the season he finds himself in trouble against teams and if he does how do you think he will over come this......i think he will get into some trouble when teams figure out his style of play in houston, but i think he overcomes it and thats what will make him a great leader and player
I absolutely agree. QB's who operate great under stress usually have successful careers.
(knocks on wood) We'll see how he reacts when things arn't going well his season. I'm sure we'll all be satisfied with his leadership abilties.

if matt spreads the ball around he should not hit much of a wall. bad nights will occur; he will come back next week and play better. he is a leader, and he will right the ship.

I think Matt will go as the running game goes. The running game is an essential part of this offense and if it is being shut down, then defenses are just gonna pin their ears back and it will be same ol Texans all over again. If you go back and look at the Cowboys game, the running game was moving the ball so Schaub could use playaction and fakes to freeze D-lineman. It is asking allot of a QB, to win a game just on his arm alone. Look at what the Pats did to Manning before last year. They shut down the running game and pinned their ears back and went after Manning and frustrated him so bad, he called out his O-line in the post game press conference.
Like I said, if the running game is there, Matt will look awesome, if not then he will look like every other QB that has to try and win a game on his arm, and it won't be pretty...
basically. that is why i am glad we have a coach with a run dominant scheme. us winning games depends on our ability to get at least 4 yards per carry. but i do believe that there will be a game or two that Matt will win for us.

Yes, I certainly hope so. And I expect that there'll be many plays where I'll think "our old QB wouldn't have been able to do that."
