View Full Version : Mario "Freakin" Williams
I will be the first to say he had one hell of a game. Pressure on the Defense, toucht down, 2 sacks and almost had a few more and before we get the "Well it was Kansas City", let's enjoy what he did. Enough of the well that was preseason, game one he showed up. What does everyone else think.

guess we will see when the Texans play a much better team. KC is going to suck it up this year and play for the first pick.

Honestly, I don't think they will be as bad as everyone thinks. I see them at 7-9 atleast. Next week, Carolina is a better team. We shall see, just wanted to hear from the "Mario Williams is a Bust" candidates. Hey did VY will it out for yall over Jacksonville?

Once LJ gets going, they will be a much better team. 6-10 to 8-8 is about right for them. Speaking of the Tennessee game, despite horrible numbers from Young, they still won. Chris Brown had a monster game (19 rushes for 175 yards).

Of course.....we played a sorry team.....right......they played poorly and we played just good enough to win......we get it.
It never ends. But that's cool. Right now the doubters can't say we're one of the worst teams in the league any more. We'll take our respect little by little. By midseason they wont be able to make any excuses.

You know they will think of something.....they always do. I got money saying on ESPN power rankings, we move up 2 places.

Next week we play a legitimate offense with a comparable defense, on the road. A win there has substantial meaning.

How in the hell does Brown run over that Defense like that? Wow...bet he wouldn't have gotten half that on our defense...nuff said.
Any way Mario and the Defense did have a great game...they will only get better as the competition gets better.

And after that whole Keye debacle...you still watched???? All you did was help their cause and increase their titan ratings...that was dumb.

And more yards for that matter....If Im not mistaken bush had a total of 39yds and marios run back was 42ish....so there goes the neighborhood!!!

I'm watching the Fox half time show right now and they went through all the scores real fast. They don't have enough time to show highlights of most games so they were just firing off quick recaps of each game. Ours spotlighted "last year's #1 overall pick Mario Williams". His stat line evidently impressed them.
Way to go 90!

blah blah blah...we dominated them as we will dominate you and the other teams we play.....go suck it
I don't think we dominated the Chiefs today, but I guess I was watching another game. I'm glad we got the Week 1 W, but they weren't the best competition we will face this year. I'm looking forward to the Panthers game on the road. They did a nice job on a good St. Louis team today.

Mario seems average to me, but I will admit, on a few plays today, he shined. After he picked up the fumble, I got a chance to see his speed for the first time. Yes, he does have some acceleration.
On another play just after I remarked "aww, Marion almost got there in time... he put on a bull rush trying to squeeze through the gap between two linemen. The gap was not wide enough, but he just poured on the power and collapsed the pocket on the Q-back... sweet.
Hope he does more of that this year... we will see. No, I'm not changing my tune yet, but he's got me looking. Let's see how he does over the next few games.
As long as other teams can play him one on one, and he can't disrupt the q-back, he will be average. But that certainly wasn't the case today. Congrats to Mario... keep it up!

Im not trying to be an ***, but what exactly are you looking for him to do? Is there another de in the league that does more than 2 sacks a rumbe rec for td, several tackles and puts on pressure? did you watch freeney or peppers this week? I guess those two suck, cause they barely did anything. You want mario to beat his man several times a game, bulldoze o lineman every qtr? Your expectations sound ridiculous for a DE. The best de's in the league today would kill to have a performance like mario's today.

no offense taken, like I said, Congrats to Mario on a good game today, but one game doesn not a season make. To me, Mario had a very average season last year. Perhaps you feel he played like a superstar last year.
Today however, Mario did some things well. Did he suddenly improve? Or does KC suck. Who knows, let's see what he does over the next few games. Meanwhile, take a chill pill, life is good.

Um. Dwight Freeney absolutely dominated the Saints' line on Thursday. It was embarrassing for them. I love Mario, but that was an ill-informed example.

Freeney had a very good game against the Saints, he was very disruptive and pressured the QB all day. However, he ended up with only one tackle and zero sacks. Mario had several tackles, 2 sacks, a fumble recovery, and a TD. I dont think it was an ill informed example at all. Mario outshined even Freeney this week.

If you want to believe that Freeney didn't effect the game as much as Mario because he didn't have a fumble recovery, TD, and 2 sacks that is fine. Of course if I remember correctly at least one of those sacks Huard basically ran into Mario's arms from pressure on other parts of the line. And the just because you have a fumble recovery and TD doesn't mean you affected the game more than someone who didn't have those things and to think so shows a complete lack of football knowledge. A fumble caused by a player is much more telling than a recovery and TD (a recovery and TD are due to significant portions of luck a lot of the time). Freeney collapsed the pocket continually the whole game, which Mario hasn't learned to do yet. Period. I'm sure he will and he had a hell of a game stat wise. But Freeney still affects 4 quarters of a game in ways Mario hasn't touched on for more than a few plays at a time.
But it definitely looks like he will get there....and possibly soon.

it's pitiful that a team several hundreds of miles away show Titans games when they have the Texans and da girls'....says a lot huh!! They never showed Peyton on Tennessee television stations...heck before the Titans, we used to get the Oilers

Ummm, you are a Jax fan, correct? Wasnt the Jacksonville game on at the same time as the Texans game? So how is it possible that you saw Mario's performance on Sunday, if you were watching your team play? By the you way, you dont remember correctly about Mario's sacks, both of them came while he was being double teamed.
Like I said before, Freeney had a very good ganme against the Saints. But Mario outshined him this week, plain and simple. That fumble recovery that you discount had a lot to do with Mario getting in the right position to make a play, and when he took it back to the house it showed excellent speed and awareness. I agree that Mario still has developing to do. But you were offbase when you said Freeney was better than Mario this week. You overstated the case, you jumped in trying to correct a Texans fan for something that was actually an accurate statement. Any time a defensive player gets two sacks, multiple tackles, and a TD in one game, that is a hell of game right there. You are not going to be able to convince me or any one else that Freeney's 1 tackle, 0 sack performance was better than Mario's huge game. Dont even bother trying.

Well if you count the sack total, he also has more all purpose yards. I think it was something like 52 all purpose yards.

It says that some people just cannot let it go and their obsession is far greater than there common sense but then again, what do you expect from a tv station ran by t-sippers.....
"T-sipper" must be a Texas thang...really though it just doesn't make sense. I've heard that Vince is still the "ish" in Houston or whatever, but d@mn, he takes precedent over an entire team. And now they show your "enemy's" game and not your own....just dont get it..
