View Full Version : The Game: KC vs Texans - my grade
From watching the game, here is what I saw.
Offense:
Schaub : 16/22 for 225 yards. 1 TD and 1 interception. 2 Sacks.
Schaub prevented a few sacks today from good poise and vision. Grading him, I think he did a A-. Why a A-.. the interception was just a bad dicision and there were a few bad throws. That being said, there were a few AWESOME passes too.
The Rb's
Ahmed Green: 16 for 73 yards. 4 catches for 23 yards.
Dayne for 13 for 33 yards.
A : They kept the ball and protected it. Second efforts were awesome from both.
The Wr's
Andre 7 at 142 yards and a TD. Also a fumble.
A : Not a A+ because he could of had one or two more on the passes. Good game from him.
JJ 2 for 33 yards.. The punt runbacks just didnt pan out at all.
B : Tried to make things happen, but just couldnt in special teams.
Those are the notibles on the offense.
Defense on next post.

Good Analysis
Special Teams
I am not happy with the special teams today. They did a decent job, but the runbacks from the chiefs were always just 1 or 2 away from breakaways. They didnt allow a TD, and did have a fumble recovery, but gave up a huge amount of yards imo

But the special teams caused and recovered a fumble on a KC punt. That lead to the first score of the game. And really set the tempo for the rest of the game.

Throwing an INT into the endzone is a huge mistake, but other than that Schaub did a good job. 2 sacks isnt so great, but I wont hold him responsible for it.
Green did really well. 4.5 ypc is very good against KC front 7, those guys aint no joke.
Andre had a huge game, wow.
The Texans made a statement here, but we certainly have areas to improve as well.
Ill give the team a B+ overall. This was one of the easier games of the season, so we will have to keep stepping it up if we want to continue this success against better teams. And oh yeah........
We got a winning streak going Houston! yeah boy! 3 in a row for the first time in franchise history.
Dline
The front four didnt impress me much in the first half, but they stayed in it and lit it up in the second half.
The A's go to. Kalu. This guy was disruptive and a hidden piece of our defense that should get credit today.. He was awesome.
The B's go to. Mario (boy am I going to catch crap on this one) and the rest of the D line (which is a B+ too).
Let me explain the Mario B (which probably is a B+). The sacks.. Mario got the sacks, both of them, due to other defensive players. Kalu helped him with one forcing Haurd inside, and I didnt catch who forced Haurd the other time. BUT Mario cleaned them up. He was getting free from his opposite party more and seemed on fire. The only reason he didnt get a A was because they were flushed to him.
The only reason the entire other members of the defense didnt get a A is even though they held LJ under 50 and the run defense was awesome, the penatration in the first half was almost non-existant. The second half was much better.
Secondary
B+ as well.. There were a huge amount of open WR's today for the chiefs... but the light up hits from DRob, and a few others were awesome. Kudos go to Spencer, as well. GREAT job not giving up 200 yards passing. The first half was where I was not as happy. But the second half was better.

i would rather them be strong in the 2nd half then 1st half. the 3rd specifically, is where in previous year we would allow the game to slip from our grasp. also when kalu flushed huard into mario of or sack 2. you can see mario was double teamed and cut threw them and got huard once he was flushed by kalu. mario is holding well at the POA. without mario eating those 2 blockers kalu never has a chance to get pressure on huard.

Excellent observation and this is why football is a team sport. MW did his job and with the double teams...somebody like Johnson, Cochran, Kalu will be able to get to the QB. Trust me...that's how the coaches draw it up and it doesn't matter to the players who make the play.
