I want this kid protecting Matt's blind side. He is big and nasty. I like Charles Spencer, but I'm doubtful that he'll make a full recovery. I know we need help in the secondary, but I say we take a vet with all of that cap money we're going to have next year. Imagine how many secondaries are gonna get cut up when Matt has even more time to throw. Look at what he does getting the ball out quickly. Imagine him with time...Draft Michael Oher

Sounds like a great prospect. He's not first round material, but if he's available in rd. 3 I say pull the trigger. Personally, I'd like Gosdner or Richardson in Rd. 1 but wouldn't be upset if we got Oher.

I'm right there with you buddy. This guy has Franchise Left Tackle written all over him and is definitely a first round talent. He's only a Junior and I really suspect he is going to stay for his senior year, get better, and earn his degree.

There's no doubt in my mind, esp. if he stays another year, he will be a 1st round pick, and I worry about the fact that we will be picking in the 20's and miss our chance on him.

Dispite contrary belief and his mammoth size, he runs very well and is a good pass blocker. He excels imo in run blocking and will be able to play either T or G position in the pros, as well as college.

Salaam is doing really well, but is 10+ year vet, we have no idea about Spencer (who could play G as well). We need our LT and this guy is it, our offensive line would be really really dominate if we could have Oher/Winston at T's, Weary, Pitts, Spencer as G's competing, and then have a C emerge somewhere that's relatively young.

I could really see us taking a guy like Slaton or a CB/FS in the 1st this year, and then taking LT Oher in the 1st round of '09 draft.

i dont think we have a shot at Oher. mainly because he will stay for his senior year and then we will be so friggan awesome in 2009 that we will pick too high to get him.

i think slaton would be a reasonable pick, but i really dont want to pick him. he would add another dimension to our offense, and would play a reggie bush role as a RB/Slot WR. we'd still be in need of an every down back, unless slaton gains another 10 pounds.

we could also use a DE like derrick harvey or vernon gholston as a speed rusher.

secondary is also in dire need, but its a weak crop of safeties. quintin demps if he falls into the 3rd round.

we also have some money freed up in FA. we could use a LB, but that would be best filled in the 3rd or 4th round of the draft since greenwood is still under contract.

i really think we should just go BPA since we've made some huge strides as a team. the biggest need is in the secondary, but it's slim pickens this year.

Me thinks the same, especially the last part! lol

Here's what could happen:

2008 Draft- we're picking early twenties. we trade down with a BAD team and get their '08 2nd rd pick and '09 2nd rd pick, and maybe a 2nd day pick. With the (say....) 3rd pick in the 2nd round we select a really solid ball hawk to play FS.

2009 Draft- we're picking late twenties b/c we made the playoffs. we trade our 1st rd pick and a 2nd rd pick to move up and take Michael Oher. (spencer is healthy and becomes a mauler at Guard for us...I think weary is a FA but we resign him to play Center) we then also have our original 2nd rd pick.

Oher-Pitts-Weary-Spencer-Winston

this would really set kubiak up to take any udfa rb and make him a pro bowler if he's running behind that line! lol

i think the best thing would be to trade down into the 20's. we'll prolly be in the 16-18 area. trade down and try to get a 2nd rounder.

1 tony hills OT
2 quintin demps FS
3 tavares gooden OLB
4 cory boyd RB
5 ernest wheelright WR
6 dorian smith DE

we get a promising LT who may fill in for Spencer. demps is a ballhawk FS who can tackle. tavares gooden is a speedy LB with prototypical size from miami. cory boyd has been on a tear for south carolina. wheelright is a big WR at 6'5 who we can use in the redzone. dorian smith is a speedrusher from oregon state.

Screw all that, instead of drafting a safety, lets just put hunter pence at FS. I mean he is a center fielder...

This weekend should be a really good test for Oher.

#3 Florida at Ole Miss

Does anyone know if Derrick Harvey plays RDE against Oher or LDE?

I hope he shuts 'em down like Winston did to Julius Peppers!

I didn't get to watch the game but looked at the stats. I wish I could know more about them!

Went to the game against Georgia this weekend.

As a huge supporter and fan of Oher, I must say I was a little disappointed in his play. There were times where he absolutely dominated and played like a pro. But there were several times where he missed badly in pass protection.

I think he would do well to stay his senior year and develop a little more. I still think he's going to be really good but needs some more playing in the SEC before jumping to the pros.

This unbiased opinion from a very biased support :)
