Amobi's up for NFL ROW: http://www.nfl.com/partner?partnerType=rookies

Vote for him! Somehow Patrick Willis is far ahead in voting. I didn't see the SF game, but did Willis actually perform better? I mean, Amobi ended 2 drives with his sacks- now THAT's impressive.

This should probably be stickied, too.

I don't see how a LB with 8 tackles is seen as a better performance then a DL with 4 tackles 2 sacks and a FF? Wonders never cease. Well I voted for Okoye.

I just voted for Okoye about 6 times so far! I'll be back for more later!

You can vote multiple times.

Yeah, I know.

I'm not sure they all count, though. When I first voted, Amobi was at 18%, and now he's at 21%. But I've voted several times since then, and it hasn't gone up. Unless a huge number of people voted right after I told everyone, then I don't think too many people have voted, but that it doesn't actually register multiple votes from the same IP address.

Usually if it doesn't let you vote multiple times, it will already have the results instead of letting you pick again.

Alright, I really think that it doesn't cont multiple votes. For some reason it's now showing the percentage to about 12 decimal places, and after voting for Amobi that doesn't change at all. But anyone who hasn't voted should, because we've already gotten him from 18% to around 26%.

I am surprised Barrett Ruud of the bucs isnt getting more props. That guy had a heck of a game forcing reggie bush fumbles.

Never mind the fox broadcasters don't know what they are talking about Ruud is in his 3rd season not a rookie as they said.

Ok this would be cool to have back to back texans defensive players of the week. I don't know how 8 tackles has willis in the lead.

Is Okoye going to continuing playing on the same side as Super Mario? Because that'd be peachy.

I dont see them moving them with all of the success we are having with the lineup we have gone with....so my guess would be yes they are going to continue to play on the same side.

Willis is getting a lot of national hype right now. I have a feeling he is a shoe-in, barring injury, for Defensive ROY.

I'm not saying that Willis might not deserve DROY, but I think that Amobi's more deserving of DROW this week.

Oh, and he's up to 31% Keep the votes coming!

You should start a new thread with this topic. I really think Kubes deserves some credit for the job he has done here.

I totally agree, Amobi should get it this week. I was just trying to explain why Willis might be ahead currently in the voting.

Vote Kubes! Vote Amobi!

I have been voting for about an hour. Amobie has not lost any ground but patrick wills has. the only person that has moved up is the RB for the packers.

After voting about 10x and reading each player's accomplishments for the week, it is clear that Amobi deserves to win this week.

With Patrick Willis in the lead, I started wondering how many times Demeco Ryans won rookie of the week last year. I know he had 8+ tackle games. Was he getting that type of love last year?

Keep voting for Amobie....that damm RB from GB keeps gaining ground.

The fact that Patrick Willis is even considered this week is kind of a joke. He is a LB who had 5 solo tackles. I swear the fans in S.F. must be stuffing the ballot box and people around the country without a team/player represented just don't care enough to vote.

Still...keep voting! I think it would be nice for Amobi to feel like he got some recognition for playing such a great game.

Yeah WTF 50 yards and 2TDs? Decent for a rookie, but nowhere near as good as 2 sacks on third downs.

Why is Willis in the lead, he had 8 tackles and nothing else. While were at it, lets give Vince young the player of the week award for keeping his team close enough to win.

Whats up with the GB running back. He only had 50 yards rushing 2td and willis only had 8 tackles...I can get eight tackles...This just shows that these weekly awards are bull ****!

Rosstafarian
09-19-2007, 11:45 AM
Eh, I always found the validity of internet polls dubious at best.

Now if Okoye is in the running for DROY, then I'll consider that a real accomplishment. One, that a bunch of internet personas on a messageboard can't determine the outcome with scripts and programming.

The GB running back got some pub on ESPN today when the sportscaster, can't remember who, said that people should pick him up for their fantasy football teams. That could explain some of his gains.

Still, Okoye being in third is a joke...2 sacks, FF and 4 tackles for a DT should have him eligible for DPOW, not just Rookie of the Week.

I've decided that it is a popularity contest fueled by ESPN and not a legitimate award for the best rookie of the week.

That being said, keep voting...you never know what can happen!

p.s. Willis may have had 8 tackles, but only 5 were solo...what a joke!

DeclanJr
09-19-2007, 03:26 PM
ya but okoye all of his 4 tackles were solo!

...and he is a freakin' DT, not a LB who should be making at least 5 solo tackles.

Now, the only argument I can come up with against Okoye is that, and I'm assuming this is how it works, his 2 sacks are counted as two of his tackles. Also, his forced fumble came on one of the sacks. So, basically he made 4 plays and 2 of them were on the quarterback.

I still think this should make him rookie of the week, but the voters must not see it my way!

Yeah, but those sacks and the FF came on third downs, ending the Panthers' drives. That's seriously clutch for a rookie. At least NFL.com had the decency to point out that fact.

Great point! If I haven't said it yet, I think Okoye should have walked away with Rookie of the Week honors this week.

I was just trying to play devil's advocate.

If Okoye doesn't win he'll just have to get another couple of sacks against Manning this week. And maybe an INT or two. ;)

Oh boy, do 49ers fans stuff the ballot box. Nate Clements won DPOW after recording 6 tackles, 1 sack, and a forced fumble. I'm sorry, but Roosevelt Colvin was all over the Chargers, and in fact I could argue that everyone else up for DPOW deserved it more than Clements.

Yep, big change on board this morning... but the Packers are still holding big lead. But it's been this way since our 1st. year. Packer's win all voting, then it was Campbell soup cans for the homeless. No, matter how much we stuff the voting they are like a voting machine. But we did get truck loads of soup for Houston homeless. As for me... I'm still not giving-up, I'll give him my best as he did in the game.
