who do we want to be the future back in Htown, wether it be in the draft next year or even in 2 years, or an upcoming free agent......
Mcfadden? Rice? Slaton? Murray?.....................hmmmmmm?

The top FA RBs are Michael Turner, Jamal Lewis, Fred Taylor, Chris Brown, and Vernand Morency, but after giving Ahman Green 4 years and $23M last offseason, I doubt we go that route.
McFadden will be drafted in the top 5, so we have no shot at him. We should realistically be able to land Rice or Slaton in the first, or we could wait until the 3rd or 4th and pick up someone like Mike Hart and draft a DB in the 1st.

i like taylor, dunno much about turner, but i think rice would be perfect, i like his his size, his strength, his speed, and he can catch and run

I say we go with Turner. McFadden should be long gone by the time we pick. And I think we'll have more money to spend in FA next year. I wouldn't be apposed to going after Turner right now,but I know it won't happen.
Draft a young RB if we dont fix the O-line or the Safety position

Well as we all know a little more than we'd like to, injuries happen. With Ahman going down and it not looking too good, I think RB is a high priority. We'll have Gado and Taylor (hopefully fully healed)...I will be watching Steve Slaton, Ray Rice, Jonathan Stewart (ORE?) and Davis? from Clemson...I'm sure there are others...
I think have a good man-to-man corner opposite dunta would be fantastic. Petey is playing out of position and we'll see how Bennet develops and if he can one day take that role of #2.
Free Safety is still a big need for us...we are bad in coverage. I think taking the best DB available could be a good use of our 1st. And maybe RB in the 3rd.
I am interested to see how Spencer comes out down the road because LT is also a need. Salaam is doing good but how much longer?

I don't see us going after a veteran RB in free agency. We have Green under contract, Dayne, Gado, and Taylor. I do see us spending money on the offensive line, and defensive secondary in free agency. But you won't see any Nate Clements contracts coming from Rick Smith, look for him to spend "smart" money for talent and depth.
This year's upcoming draft, We should take the best payer available. I don't see us taking a RB in the first round, because Kube and Co just don't do that. I'd look for another addition to this young, up-and-coming defense in the first round.
I like Slaton, if I had to choose. Rice is nice, and I wouldn't mind seeing Hart in a Texans Uni either.

I like Hart And Tashard Choice out of Georgia Tech.

i've been loving what Rice is doing. he seems like he'd be an excellent NFL rb. but, i'd love to see us going safety first round.
our chance of going rb 1st round seems pretty slim though, it just isn't kube's bag. he'd rather take a decent rb in the 3-5 rds.

with green under contract, we'll have to go through the draft for a RB as a cheaper option. depth on the OL would be nice as well, especially at Center since McKinney is done for the year. Weary played C in college, so that provides a little flexibility in picking an OL. our secondary is in shambles, and that would be the spot i'd look for in FA.
3rd round RB
Allen Patrick
Mike Hart
Tashard Choice
Ryan Torain
4th round RB
Benjarvus Green Ellis
Cory Boyd <---- I really like this guy
We could go for a Center in the 3rd round
BPA in the 1st, Malcolm Jenkins would be nice because he has the size to play FS. Derrick Harvey would be nice as well, because we still dont have enough pressure on the QB

I would rather have a dominant run blocking Offensive Lineman then a Running back in the first. If we have a strong line, it won't matter whos running behind it.

we'd be better off going for a veteran CB who can actually start. if we go through the draft, we'd be stuck with 2 young CB's in Bennett and the pick. Doesn't really make sense. If Spencer comes back healthy, we only need to pick a Center.
Needs (if Spencer comes back):
Cornerback (Free Agency)
Pass rushing DE (Derrick Harvey)
Ballhawking FS (Quintin Demps)
Runningback (Cory Boyd)
Center (Kory Lichtensteiger)

I still think Smith will choose BPA as several have said. If there is a running back thats heads and shoulders above other positions, Smith is going to take him.
I just hope these quality guys come at positions of need. Smith and Kubiak have done an outstanding job thus far in FA and the Draft so I'm looking forward to what they do.

again, we probably wont be looking at DE or RB through free agency because Anthony Weaver and Ahman Green have pretty big sized contracts.

i like taylor,
Why do you like one 30 year old back more than the one you got?
BTW Turner is the highest prized RB available in FA, he is the backup in SD. See the kind of back that can be drafted in the 5th round?
