this has been gone over alot. If ya read around you will see alot of reasons explained as to why we are alot better off without Carr. I recommend finding the thread by GP that posts the video from the NFL network explaining the differences between Carr and Schaub. It has about 7 pages of replies..and goes over alot of the reasons why Carr was not the QB that some people made him out to be.
Welcome to the Forum.
Here is the thread. (http://boards.houstontexans.com/forums/thread/26102.aspx)
Also, here is one of many (http://boards.houstontexans.com/forums/thread/26870.aspx) threads about our Oline and how they are not as bad as the media, and Carr, made them appear.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forums: thehome of speculation, discourse, and Texan pride. We here atwww.houstontexans.com pride ourselves, not only on a diverse views onthe best way to armchair GM, but for not falling victim to thedisease of 'LITP'; a disease more widely known as 'Living in thePast'.
One of the easiest symptoms for the diagnosis of'LITP' is a 3rd grade grasp of english grammar. Notice in thefirst paragraph I have used not only periods and commas, but also asmattering of colons and semi colons. LITP and bad grammarusually go hand in hand. Please do us all a favor and read a copy of Strunk and White.
I humbly beg forgiveness if you have a learningdisability and your non existent use of punctuation and capitalization stems from acondition you have no control over...although it would explain yourinsistence that Carr be given another chance. ;)

Wow. That was harsh, accurate, but harsh. :P
a 3rd grade grasp of english grammer. ....
If you're going to play grammar police on message boards (something I don't condone), the least you could do is learn how to spell.
By the way, welcome back Hulk, err... dc8 whatever.

Haha. Duly noted. ****, my scathing retort on a thoughtlesspost torn apart yet again. While spelling and decent grammar gohand in hand, a worse sin by far is the belief in 'what ifs'.

Would've, could've, should've, and whatever've... come on, the page has been turned let the Texans live and play for today and tomorrow and not maybe what yesterday could have brought on now. The torch has been passed and the fire is still flaming so let's bring it on and just git er done...the Texans still have a winning future.

Ok man really are you like mentally insane or are you an off seed of Charlie Casserly. They should make a official rule on this site of no mentioning David Carr or without taking your medication. We are like 3 months removed from this trash of a QB and you are still talking about him, man just go to North Carolina with DC.

He has one post worked up with his and your hatred for Carr. What goes around can come around to haunt you. Listen on this messageboard you can think and write what you will about the Texans but do you have go to the Panther's site and spill your hatred about Carr? Are you trying to get the whole league to black ball Carr? Are you so filled with hatred that you have to try to destroy a young man's life? This is truly an evil group of fans.Isn't it enough that he's not on your team anymore? Also wouldn't be more productive to be looking at the positives that you team has now and not that past?It has been a year of reading posts on the Texans site bashing and hating on Carr and blaming everything wrong on him.Again,he's not on the team any more and this Carr thing has to end. I don't care where your team ends up but it is time to move on and enjoy the improvements your team has done. Are you feeling guilty that he's no longer on the team and so your guys will not have any more excuses for the poor play?Or are you so full of hate for Carr because you believe he's responsible for state of the team?

Reliant Texan, go to the sight, see for yourself. He spewing garbage from phony work habits to David's Dad. Now you tell me that calling a hater a hater is not actual. But to give them props they are chewing him up. Check his rept, and all the stats that are found to be untrue. True... that it is a hard read to see a member of the Texans message board go off full tilt... but it was his choice to do it. He ask me as a Carr lover to see the site, but when I did go and saw his frist two posts... I had to leave, and posted it here... hoping tsip would see how he sounds by reading the sad stuff they write. By then I went back and his post count was over eight and was still flaming Carr and their board members. I should have ignored him at the start, as I usually do but no I went to see what the site had to offer on Carr and found the blood bath instead.

Hell, I'm getting annoyed that this post is stillaround. I don't condone going to other boards and bashing onCarr, as I've been a supporter of his since he starting throwing aroundthe rock. This thred would make since if we were talking about like a Andrea Johnson or Demeco Ryans but we are talking about David "the hair" Carr. Dude probably get sacked at apress conference by the podium. I can see him throwing an interception with no pressure and no one guarding the receiver. The problem we have gotten so use to marginal play and the culture of defeat that we have actually forgot what consecutive 300 yard games mean.
If the Carr fans don't keep writing about 'hate,' they have nothing to write about Carr. There is absolutely 'zero' talk about Carr by the Panther fans on their board, and there was only a dribble when they signed David.
So, posters like Petedy and Caddy come to our board so they can continue their relentless defense for a qb that will soon be history.
And, the really sad part?...just about everything posted by those 'haters' about Carr is true/fact. Fortunately, most of the world-though everyone doesn't agree-doesn't resort to name calling and references to 'hatred.' JMO, but when your best argument for Carr's defense is that we--who don't think Carr is the best thing since 'sliced bread'--are 'haters,' thats truly sad and I feel sorry for you. I can only imagine what the rest of your life must be like and hope you get help soon...

FIrst, I don't hate Carr. But I did go over to the board and post what I thought were things they ought to have him work on if he's to be successful. I've posted those same things here and on the chron.com NFL msg board.
I don't understand how pointing out strengths and weaknesses can be looked upon as hatred.
If I told you most of our DBs don't have world class speed, which most don't, or that Mathis has trouble staying healthy would you think I hated them?? I hope not.
So why is it "hatred" when I point out that Carr can't read defenses because he was never taught to; you think I hate him?? When I said that Carr should have watched and learned his first year instead of being called upon to lead and EXPANSION team, that's not hatred, that's common sense.
There's not a player in the league that doesn't have weaknesses. ...well, maybe LT - **** if I can find something wrong with his game - but I digress.
- Manning is slow of foot and gets "happy feet" under strong pressure.
- Drew Brees doesn't really have the strongest of arms so his accuracy goes down on really long throws.
- R.Bush is still learning how to run between the tackles in the NFL, but he never had to at USC, L.White did that.
- My favorite players, McNair and Favre tend to throw into coverages because they think their "cannon" arms can fit the ball into tight places. That mindset often costs them INTs. Too often.
Pick almost anyone you want, they have at least one weakness - probably more. And pointing out weaknesses isn't "hatred".
Not to me anyway. I'm sorry if it is to you guys.

By the way it wasn't your post I was mentioning but wonger's.What you have mentioned though is exactly what Carr and the Panthers want to do and that is to sit for a year.Even Carr realizes he needs to do that so he can work on the things that are his negatives. He has even stated as much in a news conference 2 months ago. This is something he never recieved in Houston and should have but Capers threw him into the fire.Schaub on the other hand recieved that time on the bench and he's better for it.David will now get that time and he'll be better for it as well.

You have missed the point. Weakness, or bad games are not in question. But here is an example of how hate starts lies. Carr has a son who has medical problems, when practice was over he goes home to his sons and family... instead of hanging around after practice. Now this fact went into ... Carr leaves pratice early. He was always there and most often one of the first to start every year. But a harter hung " late to work, early to leave" tag which other hater's took as fact when there is no truth to it. This is only one example and I won't get into others. As I won't lower myself into a name calling contest.

I realize I'm perpetuating a horrible Carr thread... however, I just couldn't continue to read this stuff any longer.
The reason y'all have problems with other peoples' opinions is because of how you would handle certain situations yourself. Caddy sounds to me like a man that will put faith, family, friends then work in that order of priority in his life. Wonger sounds like a man that will put work first to take care of the family and friends... though I'm not sure where his faith may be.. and I don't care. My own opinion... if I'm at work, my concentration is on work. If I have a sick family member, I'll support them the best way I know how. If I can't do anything about that sick family member, I'm going to continue doing my work, and do it better, in order to keep the bills paid. But that's just me.
But really, the arguement boils down to this... 2002 we choose Carr, 2004 Carr and the Texans show promise, 2005 The Texans Tank It, 2006 New Coach isn't a Mechanic. When you, as a person, realize that your work isn't fun anymore, it's time to move on. Carr was attempting to honor his contract and "stick it out". Some of us would say, if he was a real man he would admit that he was wasting millions of Bob McNair's money, be honest about it and give it back. Others would say that it was hazard pay for what he had to put up with. I believe that Carr was living with a lot of PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder, considering how many times he found himself on his back.
Was it Coaching? YES
Was it Carr? YES
Was it the line, including missed blocks from TE, WR, and RBs? YES
Caddy, I respect your opinion of Carr's positive points. Carr still has all the potential to be an HOF QB.
Wonger, I respect your opinion of Carr's negative points. Wether or not Carr's career is a success can only be dependant upon Carr's own desire.
Give Carr, and these kinds of threads, a break. Let him go live his life. So what he didn't have fun for the last 5 years here. We've all had a bad first job experience.

good post and I agree. Just let the man be. If his son is ill let him spend his time at work then go and take care of him. Only him can make the decisions, is it right that he doesnt put in more effort well I don't know. I mean us as fans would say no its not but if it was me then I would try to do everything in my power to be there for both family and career. And maybe that's what Carr tried to do, he just didn't know the basic concept to succeed. I don't know, all I know is that it worked out for us and hopefully it will work out for him. he is a good guy and whatever he does on the field doesnt reflect on his personal life. That's a good thing, I know I try not to bring my work or whatever happened that day home bc then I would be in a bad mood and make other people around you uncomfortable. Anyways all these threads are the same and I just say get over it we have a new sheriff in town.

"Carr has a son who has medical problems, when practice was over he goes home to his sons and family... instead of hanging around after practice."
I thought my posts were reasonable, honest, based on logic, and without malice. Well, at least I tried to make them that way. No hate, just stating what I observed to be weaknesses. I also gave reasons why those weaknesses where there and what could be done to fix them - and I do think they can be fixed.
But the Queen has spoken. There shall be no further reference of "The Departed One" by me. I wish him well - - - unless they're playing us; then I hope the whole team sucks.
Go TEXANS!

I'm not a Queen by any means. [6] However, it seemed as if some of you were getting a little too passionate about things you can never change. I thought a woman's perspective might help bring y'all back to reality. [:D]

Good for you Caddy.

DUH, THIS IS THE NFL...not the Vienna Boy's choir...sounds like David picked the wrong profession... Have you been to a little league or Pop Warner game lately!!??...guess 'little' Carr won't be doing the 'sports' thing.
You have taken hate to a new level.
Little Carr (his name is Austin) does not play football due to his medical issues. He plays other sports where injuries won't jeopardize his health. He requires close monitoring.
Yes, I have been to Pop Warner and Little League, last Saturday was the championship game.
My son has had great experiences with wonderful coaches and parents.
What has that to do with anything?

"woman's perspective" and "reality"
There's just something unnatural about seeing those two things in the same sentence.
But then you used logic and seem to like, no, dare I say, understand football.
you're not the average woman are you?
Next you'll be telling me you own a sportsbar...
...ummm... do you?

Too, I want examples of things you said I said about Carr that are not true...I'll refresh your memory...
Too, you need to give a better address for Wonger's post--go to his post, and copy/paste the web address there...
And, finally, is Carr the only one in the world with personal problems? at least he's got the financial resources and family to help with transportation/loving for his son.
Here is a Texan's fans perspective on Wonger:
www.carolinahuddle.com (http://www.carolinahuddle.com/)
When I saw this post, and the name of the poster I almost fell outta my chair ...
This is my first post here although I've lurked for a few months ..
I'm a Texan fan first and formost and over the last five years I've become a David Carr fan. As a season ticket holder, I saw a young kid come in with total enthusiam and leave like a beaten dog. His first year was brutal. After the season opening win against Dallas we proceeded to San Diego where he ran for his life all day. It went from there ...
Were all the sacks the OL's fault? No way ... Did DC become skittish in the pocket? Yep .... and for good reason. He put his life on the line every pass play ....
It remains to be seen whether he can overcome this and succeed. I'm pulling for him.
As for Wonger, he's The Wonger Needs Food on the Texans message board, he's a years long Carr hater. Everything and anything from his looks, to his family, to his religion, ... is fair game to this guy. 90% of his posts over the years have been nothing but a diatribe against Carr. It amazes me, but oddly enough doesn't surprise me, that he followed Carr to Carolina to continue his obsession.
Wow. Just Wow.
Go Texans.
