View Full Version : Andre' Davis: FANTASTIC!

This guy makes plays. He powered his way forward for the 4th and 9 conversion late in last week's game. He also made the acrobatic INSANE catch down the sidelines on the 1 yard line. I expect to see more of him in the weeks to come. I feel a bold prediction coming on:

Even when AJ returns to the field, Andre' Davis will be on the field consistently as a #2 receiver. I like Walter's effort and his hustle and determination, but Davis exemplifies everything that Walter does PLUS he makes plays. I think there's a reason Matt went to Davis last weekend more than he went to Walter. This guy's been underrated since he came into the league. Thank you NFL for letting him slip through the cracks and land here in Houston.

I doubt that he becomes the #2 WR. He has no value on special teams at all. And when jacoby gets healthy he will split with walters who is excellent at run blocking.

Uh isn't it better if #2 WR's DON'T play special teams? Less chance of injuries and whatnot... I think Davis will be a number three after Jacoby gets back, but I definitely think he'll get a lot of time on the field.

No kubiak wants players to excel at both special teams and offense and defense. I agree he had a good game, but there's a reason he's been behind walter and jacoby.

Walters makes plays too - 3rd down and getting-them-when-we-needed-them yards. Walter is underrated imo. And he blocks like a TE.

I'm with you on that awesome catch Davis made after fighting all the way down the sidelines... That was a monster play. Kudos to Matt for believing in Davis 1-on-1.. JMO

I definatly agree, walter has some exceptional abilities as well and he should not be overlooked because of Jacoby's big play ability or b/c andre davis had a couple good plays.

How do I sound like i'm related to him. Because I know he's a great blocker, sure handed. I would have thought, a guy with an eye for talent would have picked up on it!

correct. Normally you wouldnt want your #2 to spend his energy and risk getting hurt on special teams coverage. You do want your backups to be able to contribute on ST. I think if Davis has a good game and outperforms Walter this Sunday, he should be our #2 guy with Jacoby in the slot.

I don't think kubiak will want the drop of in blocking from walter to davis. With andre, owen, jacoby there's not that many more ball to go around.

You talk like you're related to Walter or something. I agree that Walter makes plays when we need them, but it's also about flat out production. Davis will have more rec. yards in Atlanta because Matt Schaub simply throws his way more often, as evidenced in Indy.

Yeah...your right, Schaub went to Davis 5 times and Walter 4 times...nevermind that he threw to Walter for the TD that was picked by an Indy LB...but your right, Schaub simply throws more to Davis.

You do realize that this is Davis' 6th season and his 4th team, right? And he's NEVER started more than 8 games/season...but he's AMAZING! Watch Out!

Yes he played great! That is what i call "stepping up".

One of the brightest players in that game. Made plays when he got the opportunity and did not make mistakes and that catch was right in front of my seats. I couldn't belive it. It was amazing.Maybe we havew 2 amazing andre's

There is no reason why one player has to be the #2 for every play. I could see Kubiak rotating Walter in on some plays, especially when blocking is needed. But Davis is probably more of a threat in the passing game, which is a WR's primary responsibility.

Your right they probably will rotate the WR, but I doubt we see anything amazeing from him. He reminds me of corey bradford.

Kevin Walter is the most underrated player and underappreciated player on the texans roster. And Im glad he's the #2 reciever.

Andre Davis is great but he's still the 4th best reciever on this team.

Kevin Walter is the most underrated player and underappreciated player on the texans roster.

There is a reason why he is underappreciated, its because he underachieves. In terms of recieving, Kevin Walter is actually 7th on our team behind AJ, Owen Daniels, Vonta Leach, Ahman Green, Jacoby Jones, and yes, Andre Davis. In 3 games, Walter has a grand total of 4 catches for 34 yards (longest catch was for 10 yards). That is not the behavior of a #2 WR.

Although me and everyone else in houston and the league for that matter likes jacoby, he is still raw and must learn to run better routes.
