blitzes are dumb

we need to get rid of them its costing us the game plain and simple.....every time we have done it they get a first....our run defense excels cuz we have lbs quick enough to stuff the run lanes...but when they are used to blitz they go to a certain gap leaving run lanes wide open.....

I don't mind the blitzing...Harrington was just on today. We had one blitz where DeMeco got in for a sack. You just got to give it up to Harrington today. He was on his game and we weren't at full strength.

If you have ever watched the Bears defense, they do the exact same thing. They disguise it well though. One guy will fall back into coverage and two guys will blitz the quarterback. They happen to have good corners and safeties though. We will get there. Have faith!

thing is we have been so good the other games...why try to change your play style.....we didnt blitz really at all the first three games....then we go crazy today....thats what i dont like...our defense was fine why alter that?

Well, our front four wasn't getting a bunch of pressure. Obviously you can't blitz a team like Indy, but this is a game where you could have gotten away with it if the Texans had had tight coverage. I don't mind the blitzing. I feel like it keeps them on their heels and forces bad plays. It just didn't pan out today.

I disagree blitzing the Colts is what keep the Steelers in the game when they went to the Super Bowl, you just can't over do it. Texans need to disguise there blitzes better. Harrington got off to a good start because of lack of pressure with our front four. In the second half Harrington was a lil rattled when they started blitzing. But I understand why they don't blitz much( because of Faggins) but hey you still got to take chances.

I have no problems with bliltzing. It HOW we were blitzing that I'm upset about. I mean, really...Harrington gets sacked SEVEN times in one game, and we only come up with 2?

The plain and simple truth is that they were GAMEPLANNING for us to blitz them. That is why almost every time Harrington picked up a blitz, there would be a simple screen/swing pass to a RB with plenty of space, or short over the middle plays like the one to Crumpler in which no one was within 10-15 yards of him.

I agree with those who are saying it's the way we're presenting the blitz. I would prefer some odd alignments: Zone blitzes, safety blitzes, maybe pull Mario into coverage and blitz a nickel or something.

Hell blitz Faggins, everyone knows he can't cover anyway.
