With the way this guy has played, can anyone explain to me why he wasn't our #2 WR coming out of the preseason. Can you imagine how lethal our passing attack could be with Davis playing across from AJ and Jacoby in the slot?
If JJ and AJ come back healthy and Coach K continues to leave Walter in at the #2, I'm really going to question what he's thinking?

Schaub to Davis was the best part of that game. They had a lot of synergy and Davis did really well even with a hurt finger. I definitely think Kub should consider putting Davis in at #2 when AJ comes back.

With all the athleticism and speed he has shown, it just baffles me that it wasn't enough to get him much playing time in the preseason, which could have led to him playing in the starting lineup. Walter can make a few catches, but he's not going to beat anyone downfield or out-jump someone for the ball.

This guy can straight up play. He had shown flashes in Cleveland but I never realized he could make plays like that. He was solid. As far as Walter being #2, I think he gives you a little more consistency in his routes and is a better run-blocker, but that only takes you so far. I wouldn't mind seeing AD across from AJ in the future.

Dallas plays with Patrick Crayton and Terrell Owens on opposite sides and I don't consider either of them run-blockers. Crayton had a monster day yesterday and if he keeps it up, he will pull defenders off of TO and then he'll get open.

I agree that AD should be the #2 after watching the game yesterday. KW should be the slot and JJ the 4th untill JJ quits trying to catch passes with his helmet.

Alot can change throughout the season. And AD is making his case on why the Texans need to keep him after Johnson/Jones comes back.. And if Wynn continues to excell at KR then Mathis might end up looking on his way out if he can't stay healthy.

Andre and Andre One two. I think the best thing to come out of all of this is the realization that Davis can be a true number 2.

this guy is a class act all the way both on the field and off. He definately deserves to continue as the number 2 WR. The 2 Andre's will give the defense fits as well as open up the needed running game. Coach K I hope your listening!!

I like this guy I even picked him up this week for my fantasy team. he plays tough and makes unbelievable catches. #2 reciever in my book.

I would put Davis at 2 AND JJ at 3. I think they both will do more for us than Walter. I don't mean to get on to Walter, but those guys both play with a lot of heart--and that's what we really need, besides a healthy AJ.
Is it because of injuries? Yes
Is it because Atlanta is better than we thought? Yes
Is it because we played down to them some? Yes
Is it because we didn't blitz enough? Yes
Is it because we didn't get any turnovers and continue to fumble? Yes
Is it because our secondary is lacking, especially because we are playing a 6th round pick at starting CB, who plays his guts out but doesn't quite have the talent? Yes, definitely.
Is it because Mario is not quite living up to expectations? Yes.
It's ALL of those things, people. And, you can throw in some of that Dayne just ain't cuttin' it, too.

A lot of coaches believe that if you start two receivers, one should be a game breaker (AJ) and one should be a possesion receiver (KW). The third receiver is typically a good catch and run guy (JJ). Andre Davis is sort of tweener who is capable of doing all of things but has not really excelled at doing any of them. I think that the reason that he is doing so well is that he realizes that his window of opportunity is closing and he is ready to prove his worth. I definitely would use him as a #2 receiver.

I gotta agree man, I think Kevin would be a better slot reciever and AD and AJ as 1&2. He's been doing pretty good.

This guy stepped up bigtime. I agree he was just about the only bright spot of that game. He kicked a**.

Walter was horrible yesterday.
Couldn't catch a thing.
Oh wait....he actually had a good game which would have been better if not for a holding call.
That was Andre Davis's first TD since 2005. He did have a great game, but I'm reserving judgement until I see consistency there.

Didn't Andre Davis have a big catch last week? He's only been in for two weeks...seems pretty productive to me.

Sure has been. However, that hasn't been the story on his career so far. I'll hold off a couple of games to see if it's the real deal or not. If it is, we got our selves another real steal.

You know, seeing how well he played the last two weeks... it baffles me that this guy can't stick anywhere, and that he wasn't good enough to be active for the first two weeks of this season.
He seems like a hard worker and he's obviously talented - do you guys know what it was that kept him from finding a home before Houston? Is he a terrible blocker? Does he not deal well with contact?

Two words: injury prone.. When the Browns signed him in '02, he was their second round draft pick that year. He was as advertised until the injury bug hit him (toe injury)... he missed too many games. And when Braylon Edwards was signed, that kicked Davis down the playing chart.
The Patriots were interested enough to pick him up when the Browns released him. But he had a foot injury while with them, so his playing time was sporadic.
Now the hand injury with us.
He's very speedy and has nice stats when healthy.

It was a finger injury and he said he would catch the ball with one hand if he had to. I think he wants to prove something. As long as he is not soft and continues to be hungry for the ball. I am glad he's on our team.

Maybe that's the case, but I still say we start him and use that talent until he does get hurt and can't play. If he sits on the bench, he's not helping whether he's healthy or not.

Walter hasn't done anything to remove him from the #2 spot. Keep in mind that Walter can run good routes, block well, and has good hands. Now Jones can't do that, because of his inexperience. Jones is great for returning the ball, and has to get use to the game. Don't forget, when Jones flashed, this was against mainly 2nd and 3rd string teams. Don't get me wrong, he will be a good player, however, he needs time to learn and adjust to the game. (That's called experience).
Oh, by the way, Walter had a great game last week. 6 catches for 77yards, and a touch-down that got called back, because of a holding penalty.

Personally I think Andre Davis is the better receiver and you have to play your best players. Maybe Walter can alternate in the slot with JJ.

Well, there ya go. Walter wouldn't have even been open if Daniels hadn't been over there playing tug-of-war with the cornerback. :D

Walter is a very servicable WR for sure, but his skill set is limited. A. Davis can do many more things that Walter is capable of. That doesn't necessarily mean Walter will be unseated as the #2 WR, but it will definitely have to be considered with a healthy Davis making plays like he has been. That's not a slam against Walter by any means....just recognition for Davis playing at a higher level than the other receivers still on the field.

And you think Walter doesn't play with heart. You have been watching some other game. How many receivers go out and actually block and succeed. Not the other 2 you just mentioned. Like someone else mentioned Jones will get better when he stops having balls bounce off his helmet.

I agree with Andre Davis at number 2. Maybe Walter is good at blocking, although its hard to tell because he sure didnt seem to help our run game much. Either way, a WR's primary responsibility is to get receptions, yards, first downs, and touchdowns. Andre Davis does all of that better than KW. I can see Kubiak using both Davis and Walter in the #2 role depending on the situation. But Davis has earned his playing time. He has played like a WR truly worthy of starting, and shot past Walter in the depth chart.

That was Andre Davis's first TD since 2005. He did have a great game, but I'm reserving judgement until I see consistency there.
Make sure you reserve judgement on Walter as well then. Last TD he caught was in also 2005, and it was the only one of his NFL career.
