I'm kind of tired of Pitts seemingly getting a free pass. (when he's not constantly called for penalties). Any good interior lineman expected to come out, doesn't have to be first day. Just something to let Pitts know his job isn't completely secure.

Chris McDuffie of Clemson would a good one in the mid rounds. I don't know too much about the other guys.
I agree with you 100% about Pitts though. People call him Mr. Reliable because he's played every game since he was drafted, but he does make too many mistakes. I think Studdard's going to take over his job though.

Pitts is a pretty solid Guard in this league. He will make his share of mistakes but he has great feet and gets second level blocks down...he's one of our better linemen.

He's solid, but I feel that Kasey Studdard will be starting at G next year. I don't know if it will be Weary or Pitts that he beats out though.
Vinny, I heard something around the time Studdard was drafted that he might be moved over to C sometime in the near future. Did you hear that as well? Think it could happen?

Pitts is not going anywhere. He is a better player than you guys think. No way he beats out Weary either (obviously these are just my opinions so take them fwiw). I haven't seen Studdard enough to say as it pertains to moving to C...I base all my takes on watching them play and I don't do much speculative, assumptive stuff when it comes to something this blind.

I understand about not wanting to speculate about anything, but I really liked Studdard at Texas and I hope he gets his shot with the Texans to do something other than block on FGs and XPs.

If you want an idle take....from what I saw in camp he was bit stiff and not real athletic...Kubiak likes better athletes in the middle of the field. I do like his aggressiveness and he seems to fit more of the Sherman mold and I don't think Sherman will be here next season....we'll see.

Yeah, I remember reading that in Kasey's scouting report.
I've heard rumors (baseless or real) that Sherman could be a top candidate for the A&M job if it becomes available. I'm good friends with Justin Brantly, their punter, and I get the sense that he's open to a possible coaching change. He's a junior and might declare for the draft, so he may not experience a new coach. lol. I told him that the Texans might be looking for a punter in the offseason, and he said he'd love to play for us. He's one of the best in the nation, now that Sepulveda finally graduated. lol.
(Sorry for rambling) haha

I can agree that we need new blood at the Center position...I'm with you on that one for sure.
we need to improve our line in 2 places.. Center and left tackle.. those are NEED positions.
Pitts, Weary, and Winston are all solid..and of those three, Pitts is the best lineman we have. I am not against getting a guard.. I feel that our interior oline needs to be better all around... we need to improve our ability to run between the tackles and that is the way to do it, imo. Pitts would be the last interior olineman I would replace though.

Center of the future - Chris White or Kasey Studdard (maybe)
LT of the future - I think this is where we go in Rd 1 of the draft. Ryan Clady of Boise State would make sense.
we also have 30 million in cap room to woo the best olinemen in FA.

Whoops, forgot to check on this thread.
I just like the idea that if Pitts starts getting bad penalties, Kubiak has the option of taking him out for a few plays to get him focused without having a significant drop in talent. Of course I doubt that ever happens in todays NFL. Depth on the O-line is always good to have to, and I agree, that Center and LT are our biggest needs on the OL right now.

I don't know, find some decent young guard and pay him $7 mil/year. :D

It's working pretty well for Cleveland. Steinbach's changed the look of that line relatively well.

Well if Spencer comes back he might have to play G instead of LT. Is Weary able to play C at all?
I'm all for Lt in the first this next year.

He was born on June 16, 1970....that makes him 37. You don't want to be this guy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAs6TDLuKgQ) when you post.

Yup, he is just a pup.
Amobi was 3 months old when Vinny Testaverde started his first NFL game.
