Now that Trent is in Miami, Duante is on notice. The team wants to trade him but from what I have read he will balk at any trade. He is pretty much saying you want to get rid of me you have to fire me. I guess it is taking the high road. Of course Duante represents himself...
The logical place if released I think he ends up is Jacksonville. Leftwich is in a contract year. Garrard looks to not be the answer at QB. Mike Tice is the OC and assistant head coach. To me I think that is the ideal spot he lands. Still in Fla. in an offense he knows with a year to sit and watch the front office drama unfold...

Don't get me wrong Daunte WAS a good player but I don't know if he has "enough ability" left in him to continue playing for another team. He's been in the league for 8 years (Which is not a lot for a QB) but has injury problems. Ferformance wise he's almost like Michael Vick, with the exception that he's the better passer. The Jaguars would be a good team for him, but I dunno, lets just see the drama unfold. For the record, Daunte has 21,091 yards passing, 137 touchdowns, 89 interceptions, and 2,496 yards rushing. I guess Jacksonville is a good option for him, its up to Jacksonville to decide the future of their franchise.

Normally I wouldn't pay too much attention to speculation about Culpepper's situation, but that was before someone suggested he could wind up in Jacksonville.
He had a set back last yr and played poorly because he wasn't ready to come back from a devistating injury. But that doesn't wash away his accomplishments from a few yrs back. If it wasn't for Peyton Manning, Culpepper would have been the MVP in 2004.
I'm not suggesting he's still playing at that level, but I wouldn't want to see him do it in our division. I want to be able to keep our foot on the Jags necks....it's harder for them to bite that way.

He won't have Randy Moss like he did in 2004.
But you're right. Let them keep Byron.

How about Washington? Don't they need a QB? And we played them last year. I don't want Culpepper any where near us this year. He's pretty good when he's motivated. And he'll be very motivated if he ends up the odd man out in Miami.

Campbell is apparantly looking very good this year and looks to be a lock in washington.
Jacksonville has a very odd issue at Qb with them not locking up leftwich this year. Plus the confusion last year between player and coach. Rams may also give him a look but with Bulger there, Culpepper would be on the bench.

Yeah, Campbell actually looked good, he threw 10 TDs and only 6 INTs in 7 starts, completion % was only 53 but that will undoubtedly improve, and he only fumbled once and recovered it. The year on the bench probably helped him a lot with adjusting to the NFL.

Especially with a playbook that is so thick it can be mistaken for "gone with the wind" when laying on a table. All Saunders has a huge offensive barrage of plays,.

OK this is the texans web page no the Jags or Dolphins i could care less where culpepper goes. In my mind his carrer is done anyway. he had a great run and now its time for him to retire. :)

Ok 2 things
1. Relax! Its the offseason my god if all we talked about was the texans at this point I would lose my mind. That is why there is an NFL section on the texan page so we can talk about other issues.
2. If you don't care then don't post on the subject.

I don't know why you're happy about that (the smiley suggests that you're pleased that he's retiring). And part of being a Texans fan is being a fan of proffessional football in general, so you need to know stuff about the other teams, especially the ones in your division. Besides, if you don't pay attention to other teams, you end up with the opinion that they are stupid for passing on the next Gale Sayers and Barry Sanders in one body without actually considering whether a RB would be the best position to take.

The rumour at my office round the water cooler is he will go to the Falcons, cause Vick will get suspended, and God forbid Joey boy starts.[:-*]

According to Adam Schefter, the Rams want him....

It looks like things could drag out a while for Culpepper. He would rather be released than traded. Now the Dolphins are preventing him from working out with the team (sounds eerily similar to Steve McNair's situation last yr). According to NFL.com he has taken his case up with the NFLPA.
Maybe it's just me but it seems like he's getting a raw deal here. I know he didn't play well last yr but he was coming back from a MAJOR knee injury. It appears the Dolphins organization is laying all of the blame on Culpepper. Sure he may have mislead them about how far he had progressed in his rehab...but in the end it's the head coaches decision to play him. It was obvious he was still hobbled by the knee. If he wasn't 100% the coaching/training staff never should've given him the green light to play.

I'd like to see Culpepper come back, just NOT with the Jags. Let's face it, when he's healthy and has a legitimate WR to throw to like Moss he's deadly. Culpepper's a guy that can be explosive when he's got time to throw deep to a guy that can get open.
His one problem was trying to come back from that knee injury too soon. Carson Palmer was able to do it but his knee healed and Culpepper's didn't. He couldn't plant and throw, and he couldn't take off running any more.
IMO it wasn't his fault that the FO and coaching staff in Miami allowed him to come back on the field too soon. And now they're hanging it on him. If he's able to get his knee solid he's still a viable option at QB for a lot of teams. He's certainly a better QB than Leftwich and Garrard. Leftwich is in the last year of his deal and said he has no problems with Culpepper coming to the team. That tells me Leftwich doesn't plan on staying after that and Garrard isn't good enough to be a starter. So this deal could very well happen.
I dpn't know about you guys but having to face Culpepper twice a season makes me nervous. Although I would like to see what our defense would do to him if his knee isn't all the way healed [;)]

The Fin's sure scored on that whole Pepper Vs. Breez thing. Casserly would have called it "A thing of beauty".
