I can not take it watchin this lazy ***** always letting the guy blow past him for a sack. I bet if we looked at all the games that at least half of our sacks this year is because he gets put on his *****. I mean can jordan black be that bad that he can't do any better than him?

Salaam has been detrimental since being a starter. He's a great guy off the field, but he's so SLOW the DE's run past him, or he gets calls for offsides because he has to cheat over just to have a chance. Not only him...we have NO POWER or QUICKNESS on the O-line. Did those guys go the the weight room this off season?

the turnstile is alive and well in Houston. It was good seeing Paul Spicer blowing past him for that sack and fumble/TD return for Daryl Smith.
He had his own radio/t.v. show here in Jax also, If he's the best you can do at LT...It'll be a long year for Schaub.

Those of you who are bashing Salaam, best pray to your everloving God that he doesn't get hurt.
If Jordan Black has to come in and play LT, you're gonna find out real quick why the friendly folks over on the Chiefs message board called him "I-69".
Good veteran left tackles cost an arm and a leg, but we signed Black dirt cheap. I wonder why?

The team surprisingly made no effort to improve the offensive line for this season. Im pretty sure we had the same number of OTs in camp that we have on the roster now. I dont know why we didnt at least pick up Jared Gaither for a 5th round pick. We are desperately thin at OT. But like the poster above me said, Salaam is is the best we have and we better hope he can start every game.

You try blocking 300 lbs of fast moving lard butt and see what it's like. Some are better at it than Salaam but I think he does pretty good considering he was only supposed to be a backup.

What happened to Pitts this year? He has been pretty descent in past years if I recall correctly.

Pitts is mostly responsible for our stalled drives this year. He has so many false starts, holding penalties, and being downfield on screens, I'm not sure he is "in the game". When you are overmatched, you are often called for holding. Last two games, he was more responsible for sacks than Salaam. He was getting beat regularly on the inside, with many hurries, sacks and knockdowns.
I don't understand why we have so many on this message board that want him to be our LT, when it is common knowledge that the guard position is easier than the tackle position, and its obvious he is having problems with that spot.

Yeah, but the seasons where he DID play LT, he played it well. I'm in a minority here, but I think LT is more suited for him because it requires more finesse and lateral quickness. Where as, the guard position requires more strength and straightahead push.
I know one thing. If Salaam goes down, I'd rather have Pitts move over to LT than have Jordan Black come in.

Pitts at LT isn't a good idea IMO. However, Pitts is too good a player to put up another terrible performance this Sunday. Kubiak has noted that Pitts has a chance to be a "great" player in this league, not just a good one. But his mental mistakes this year are unusual, to say the least. Our guards are supposed to be the strength of the o-line so let's hope they get this turned around.
As bad as Pitts has been, Salaam has been worse IMO. We desperately need to address the LT position in the offseason or draft because Salaam is killing us. He's been flagged too many times for holding, illegal use of the hands and offsides penalties...it's killing our drives. We can't teach speed, and right now Salaam is in need of a quicker first step when pass protecting.
I doubt Spencer will be back this season, a huge blow to the o-line, but I just can't rely on a LT who will be out of the game for a significant amount of time. But what aother choice do we have at LT? Jordan Black's gonna get Schaub killed. Maybe slide Winston (arguably our most consistent lineman) to LT for damage control? I know we're 3-3 but let's not wait for this to be a major problem before we address it.

Winston didn't play any better than Pitts against Jacksonville. He was playing matador at times instead of football.
The only lineman who stepped up this week was Weary, who Kubiak said had the best game of his career.

The guards are going to have trouble against Jax DTs. As far as Pitts at LT, he would be our best healthy LT right now. The only problems with that are:
1) He's not good enough at it to be the permanent answer.
2) We'd just have to find another LG.
3) Pitts is playing badly right now anyway (for some reason).
4) We could just try sticking Mario Williams in at LT. :D He is just a little to big, strong and slow (quickness-wise, anyway) to be a great DE, so let him block them, lol.
