View Full Version : Kind of disapointed in Texans "Fans"

I know I will get bashed for this post, but you know what, I have the right to an opinion as well as everyone else.

I am a new Texans fan, and for those who did not know I used to be a huge fan of another team until the day my wife got assaulted at the stadium and the team refused to do anything about it. I then began a quest to find a new team to support and was impressed with what the Texans as an organization offered and was impressed by the Texans fans themselves.

With that being said I must say I am kind of disgusted with some of the posts I see on this and other boards when the team loses. I understand frustration and believe everyone has the right to their opinion, but posts saying:

The Texans SUCK

This Team SUCKS and is a bunch of LOSERS

So and So SUCKS

I am done with this team

I am sorry, in my opinion that is nothing but a childish temper tantrum and to me people posting that garbage never were a fan to begin with. A fan sticks with his team through the good AND THE BAD. Get frustrated, sure, get angry, absolutely, say you are done with this team and see you next year? You were never really a fan to begin with then.

I guess my point is this, it is OK to get angry, but think before you post. I do honestly believe most of the super negative postings are done by trolls with nothing better to do than try to cause trouble. My SUGGESTION, ignore them. I am guilty or replying myself but can tell you from experience, if you ignore them they will go away. People that only post negative all the time are CRAVING attention, and when you reply you give them the attention they so crave. If people ignored them I promise they would go away.

I really do like this message board and do not plan to go anywhere. The Texans fans I have come to know here are great people and have made me feel very welcome. The Texans could lose every single game the rest of the season and I would still wear my Texans clothes proudly and fly my flag in front of my house with pride. I guess I am hoping that through adversity Texans fans can UNITE, and instead of fighting each other, fight the other teams instead. It may be a pipe dream but I am holding out some hope it can happen.

Off my soap box now, commence flaming.

I totaly agree with you, they had a bad game, that doesn't mean we need to bench everyone and fire kubiak and richard smith. Alot of people on these boards are good, its the super negative ones who say the sky is falling every time we lose that ruin the board.

One thing I forgot to point out are the "fans", and I use that terms VERY loosely, who feel the need to advertise they are done with the team, or the team sucks. Guess what folks, if you are truly done with the Texans then GO AWAY, you do not need to make a big post saying you are leaving. Again, people that do that are nothing but attention wh0res looking to get attention.

I'm happy with the way Texans are playing. I like the upside of our team as opposed to prior years. Give it time and there is still a bunch left this season. There is alot of fans that want some sort of instant satisfaction.

PS. If Andre is back for Titans game. I hope our red zone problems go away.

I have already seen that and I know I picked the right team. Some people chastised me for leaving my old team, but after seeing my wife get assaulted, security refusing to do anything, and the team refusing I said screw them.

I guess my point was it is OK to get upset, but I personally am sick of all the freaking negativity and feel if you hate the Texans so much then just LEAVE already.

Just curious what was the other team that treated your wife so poorly?

I was a diehard Panthers fan, had PSL's. moved here to support the team, was on TV almost every week, was in papers and magazines and so on and loved the team. I still watch since I live here and support the players, but will never support that organization again.

I agree, but that said fans should also be able to have an honest discussion about the play of their team. Sure there are fair weather fans who panic and start to bash the team they claim to love, but make sure not to judge to harsh who have honest criticism for the Texans. I love this team as I did the Oilers before (screw you Bud). But our play the last few weeks injuries not withstanding has left them open to criticism.

Just as annoying as fans who overreact are fans who stick theirs heads in the sand and pretend all is well and the Texans never make mistakes. We all know thats not true but there are fans who jump down the throats of fans who voice their criticism of the teams effort and decisions. Its like my child, I might have to correct him and tell him he has done something wrong and needs to be corrected but it **** sure does not mean I dont live him.

Cypress I agree, my problem is with those who 25 minutes into the game and the Texans down by 10 saying and posting GAME OVER, WE SUCK, or SAME OLD TEXANS, WE WILL LOSE THIS GAME.

Take a look at some of the posts today, I am outta here, posts like that are nothing but cries for attention from very sad and pathetic people craving attention. Sorry if I did not make it clear in my post. I agree, people can criticize all they want, but TEXANS SUCK IMO is not really criticism.

There's a big difference in argueing over opinion then just ripping everything about the texans, and saying how everyone on the team is a dissapointment.

That is my point. Can someone explain to me what value the post I GIVE UP! has, anyone?

I like this better.

The Texans are playing sucky and like a bunch of losers. That way you're not really saying they suck or that they are losers, they just played sucky and like losers.

It's harmless really. Nothing wrong with stating facts.

That is excusable because if you have been with the Texans you would know that the current Texans are playing like they did when Casserly,Carr, and Capers was with the organization. i agree with Cypress Texans fan that I despise those who wear rose colored glasses and see no error in this organization.

Yep...like a few said.... instant gratification.
If every team was just a drive up Starbucks we would ALL have a White Chocolate Mocho to go...
Sad to say...those same whiners will be back when we make the playoffs
in the future.

I had forgotten about these fans. We dealt with these guys after our second year i suppose..that is about when most of our part time, ignorant fans jumped ship and started making stupid posts about how bad the Texans are.

So we started off strong this season and they came back..now injury and such has made us seem less of a team than we appeared to be in week 1 and 2.. and all those annoying fans are taking the opportunity to jump ship again.

Its because of this that, for the last few years, ive been working on an english degree so that I could get in to writing for a newspaper. I figured maybe I could get on with the chronicle and get the opportunity to educate the ignorant masses that come wear steel blue, liberty white, and battle red on sundays..and fancy themself a Texans fan when we are winning.

Unfortunatly.. after reading some of the bunk that the Chronicle has printed about our team when we were down.. I came to the conclusion that I wouldnt want to write for them, even if I DID somehow manage to land myself a job writing for the Texans in the chronicle.

Fact of the matter is that our fans need educating.. and its going to take a strong personality to do it because alot of the jackholes in Houston think that being from Texas makes them genetically inclined towards being football gurus.

Its sad really.. a whole city full of people who absolutely love the sport.. and only a small portion of them understand what makes a good fan, and a bad fan.

Well said Grid, well said

I guess my ulterior motive for making this post was to garner some educated conversation, and I am very pleased with the outcome. Some great opinions on both sides, IMO this is what is needed in the future, respectful conversation and discussion.

I believe you can have an opinion about what is wrong & that you have the right to express that opinion. But to say the team & everything about it sucks is wrong.I have watched this team go through growing pains & I don't always agree with the choices made. But I do try to think about what I say before I post.
