I know we have been clamoring for a bookend left tackle and many are looking ahead to the 08 draft for that LT. Instead let me author this scenario. The reason being is if spencer makes the miracle comebac and Winston is our RT. We just wasted a first rounder.
Lets Say Greenbay is a playoff team this year and we duplicate last years record and pick just outside the top 10. Now with that being said Greenbay needs a quality RB. Now if they trade their 1st rounder and add their 2nd round selection.
Now with their first rounder Draft
Adam Krause - G/C Michigan (would be their center this year if it wasnt for a hand injury so he plays left guard. he could be our center of the furture or guard of the future depending on where he fits better he adds quality, not to mention versatility.
Round 2
Tashard Choice - RB Georgia Tech
Great all purpose back who should give us a back of the future reminds me a lot of travis henry.
Round 3
Tracey Porter - CB Indiana
Has the body of a safety could be a great fit for our Defense If Zbikowski is available I am all for drafting him here as well.
Round 4
OT
Round 5
CB
Round 6
WR/KR
Round 7

Hopefully without the weed issues.
I was thinking the same thing when I read that. Also, can Tashard not have 48 children by 49 different women! (Yes I know! for those of you without a sense of humor)

Joking aside does this not make the most sense?
I know we are risking the LT postion by doing this but we are potentially upgrading alot of other areas. and infusing youth in areas where we currently have none.
It still upgrades our line and if spencer is a wash then we get a LT in 09. I would much rather not waste it this year with us doing the lets wait and see approach on Spencer.

i dont get what youre proposing...
trade our 1st to GB for their 1st and 2nd, and use our 1st on that G/C?

I think we need to be hoping a LT that would fit this team well falls to our 1st round spot. OL and DL players take more time to develop than do RB's. I say if a great LT is sitting there for us we HAVE to take him.
If our OL plays better they: Protect Schaub, gives our WR's more time to get open, create running lanes for our RB's to run through.
We'll have Ahman Green and hopefully Chris Taylor will be back for next season. Green only has a couple seasons left in him but he's makin $$ and when he has a decent hole to run through- he does well.
While Having a backfield of Green, Taylor and say 1st rd pick Brandon Steward would be really awesome....that's just more RB's to split up the duties and we need to fix the OL first. Charles Spencer, even if he comes back 100%, may not be able to play LT...he hasn't played a down in 2 seasons...and we expect him to come in a start for us? He would be a good back up to have at LT for a play or two...series or two...and have him starting at guard where we won't get dominated in the run blocking by the DT's.
I hope we find a solution to Center too.

who's brandon steward?
anyways, did some research on this G/C Adam Kraus. 6'6 300lbs, which is pretty tall for both guard and center. also regarded as a 4th round pick as of now, so i dont know why youd use a 1st rounder on him. even the best guards or centers are typically 2nd rounders anyways.

Wow he plays better than a 4th rounder on gameday. I thought he would be really high.
I guess he has some fundamental technique issues that hamper his stock. Plus he plays beside Jake long,
Scratch my idea he looks great in the games I have watched. switches flawlessly between LG and Center.
