View Full Version : Something I noticed...

Anyone watching the game Sunday early on would've noticed that Jacoby didn't break free on his first couple of kick returns. Not only that, but he didn't seem to have his burst of speed like usual. Now, he's been out with injury, and that's all good and well, but he looked sluggish on special teams. Is it an issue of being pushed back too early, or just shaking rust off?

I didn't notice it affecting his WR role, but just his returner role. Or maybe it was just me hoping to see more pop from a popless special teams unit this past week. *shrugs* any ideas or comments?

Well, he was playing injured. Kubiak has said again and again this week that JJ wasn't ready to play like he thought he was. And I think it affected him as a WR, he fumbled the ball once, and was shying away from contact, so that probably had something to do with it.

I think he hurt the team by letting Kubiak think he was ready to go - then once he got in there he was afraid to get hit. He's a promising rookie and he knows it - so he wanted to get back out there and show everyone what he can do/help the team, etc - but I guess being a rookie also means that you will make some dumb decisions early in your career, and I think he made one. I'm not mad at him as a fan or anything, I just think he could have handled that a little better.

I think it was because he was still hurt, But also KR is very different from punt return. JJ was waiting to long to hit the hole on KR. When he PR it makes him react faster to the players coming down at him. On the KR he did not have to hurry up and he made the mistake by waiting for the blocks. He is not experience enough for KR let someone else do it untill he learns how.

I saw that also. I think that as a player who has never been hurt, it might have gotten into his head. A couple of games should straighten him out.

The weird thing I saw was Schaub keeping his helmet on the whole game.
What's up with that?
Almost looked like he was ready to go in, but somebody wouldn't let him. Any way thought he looked retarded doing that the whole game.

I think he was crying becuase he was hurt so bad. I would have left it on too so you could not see my pain. Schuab is the man though he will come back strong and throw some TD's.

He did want to go back in but the coaching staff wouldnt let him go bc they didnt want him to get injured more. They said he wasent mobile enough after he got hurt so they didnt think he would be quick enough to move in and out of the pocket.

He looked weak and fragile. I know he wants to win and help the team but ****, hold onto the ball.

Don't rush back and hurt your team if you're not ready.

It helps if you don't take your barely able to come back in guy, let him return a kickoff, and then throw him two quick out passes in a row right after that. Everything about those first two offenses plays was so dumb I was irritated the whole game. Let's use a play that never works unless AJ is absolutley 100% and use it twice in a row just to accomplish getting JJ killed. Great strategy.

After the hit on the fumble noticed we got up he was favoring his shoulder. I knew then he was still hurt.

Could not agree more. I wanted to use the pass to open up the run. But **** when I say pass that means downfield not two yards behind the line of scrimmage. That was the dumbest start, hell everybody knew we were going to try & use JJ. Tacks were just waiting & we played right into their hands.

If you had listened or read the newspaper Monday or watched the news Monday or listened to 610 am Monday evening at 5 pm on the Gary Kubiak Show you would have heard him talk about Jacoby Jones. Kubiak took the blame for letting him play. He was not ready......

Very true...a separated shoulder is one of the most painful and takes some time to get healed. All they had to do was let him try some dumbell presses or standing flys in the weight room...I'd bet his bad shoulder was nowhere near as strong as his other and would hurt like ****...or, just let him suit up and hit him directly on his shoulder pad...they were dumb to play him, especially on kick returns of any kind! I'm really concerned about Kubiak's judgement.
He should keep Matt outa there this week as well. They could easily lose him for more time to even worse injuries. Just my 2 cents.

These injuries are killing us.
