Just to put it all to rest, the NFL decided it was a legal hit. And they are usually the first ones to throw a fine out at Big Al. Just wanted to let ya'll know.

I had noticed quite a few post from fans who also said it was a clean hit. I felt the same way. I saw no helmet/helmet or driving him to the ground. Just his size and speed of the hit was enough.

Duh. It was what he said afterwards that caused the controversy.

LOL, I can express my view about the play. No where did I imply about how smart or what he says has any merit.

He said he was happy he knocked Schaub out of the game. I equate it to someone being happy if they knocked VY or Tom Brady out of a game. Gives their team a better chance to win.
No big deal...move on.

Yeah no big deal. I am willing to bet Haynesworth is one is a thousand D lineman that take pleasure in knocking out a QB. For those who get sickened by the comments and not understanding how a guy could feel that way, they must have never seen Deacon Jones play when killing QBs was legal.

But wait - what about all this?

Haynesworth is a dirty player.
It was a cheap shot.
He should be fined
Or suspended,
Or banned forever.
And Fisher is a dirty coach (Ok, that came from a jag fan - it doesn't count)
Just goes to show that statments made in the immediate aftermath of a bitter loss may not be the most objective.
btw, good luck with the 'bolts.

Peyton would call his daddy who would call the commish and have the offender fined a gazzillion dollars and threatened with suspension if he ever so much as gives jughead an ugly look again.
So there!

What did he say afterwards? Or did you get Greens hit confused with this one?
I think it is you who are confused. ;)

We need to block better.
Then there's nothing to discuss.

It was a good clean arse pounding. I said it was clean the whole time. Too bad it wasnt Mario pancaking VY.
I bet Schaub remembers that hit a long time.
I do think that what Haynesworth said after the game was kind of sad.

They did not decide it was a legal hit. They decided not to fine him on top of the penalty in the game. Not every personal foul hit draws a fine on top of the penalty.

If it was a helmet to helmet hit, they would have fined him. If it was illegal in any way, he would have gotten a $2500, $5000 fine... by not getting a fine, its the NFL's way of looking at film and saying there is no foul.

so why was there a penalty on the play?
A penalty is a penalty is a penalty. If it wasn't "illegal" (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean), there wouldn't have been a flag. The NFL didn't say there was no foul, they said it wasn't egregious enough to merit a fine. There's a distinction that you're not understanding.

helmet to helmet...I thought it was another weak call from the overthinkers of the NFL rules committee...you can't expect a man that size to just pull up in one step. I mean, I don't like that Schaub got hurt, but that looked like a clean hit to me...but the NFL is overthinking this kind of thing imo.
