Joe Echemandu ran 10 times for 61 yards Sunday vs. the Chargers and showed me that he deserves legitimate carries for the rest of the season. I hope this hamstring injury he suffered during the game isn't going to be a re-occuring thing or keep him out of the lineup at all. He mentioned to Rich Lord of 610 AM after the game that it didn't feel good at all. He remains optimistic about his future here and said he "wouldn't say he feels acclimated to the playbook", but he feels "comfortable" with it going forward.
He looked really impressive in his first game as a Houston Texan and I sincerely hope Chick Harris and Gary Kubiak take note of that and decide to give him considerable playing time for the remainder of the season.

The Chargers locked down on Joe at the end.And he still looked pretty good. They knew what we were doing.

The only spark in the entire game was Echemandu. But of course he hurt his hamstring.

I'm sorry but the most impressive thing about this kid is he's acceleration to the hole! I had to do a double take to make sure that was a texans player!

As I said in the other thread, he averaged 6 yards per carry against a Chargers run defense that ranks 7th overall.
Even if you take away his one long 20 yard gain, he still averaged 4.6 yards per rush.

Too bad that might be all we get to see of him. Pulled hammy or tweaked? That could sideline a RB for a few weeks. Oh well, he was nice to watch while he lasted....
Yeah. A glimmer of hope in the running game, and it literally gets pulled. :(

IF kubes doesn't give him 15 or more carries against the raiders... we will be 3 and 6 by bye week

He looked good, he's not THE answer but can be an answer. It was refreshing to see somebody besides RD back there. Dayne is just not a good back, and never was in the pros. I could not understand for the life of me why he is still playing. He has no power (even though people think he's some bruiser), he has no speed and no versatility. I guess he can be thankful for that Indy game last year, Echemandu may have busted off 250 that day.

So cut Mr. 2.8 Dayne and hope Joe can play...if not call up Walker. Atleast both Joe and Walker WANT to play...Dayne just seems like he goes through the motions and at 230(being kind)lbs...why can he NOT fall forward?

And while Joe played well, he made it what.....2 quarters before coming up lame? I need to see a bit more from him before I say put the load on him.

A bit more durability as well. What good is it to own a ferrari if its constantly in the shop getting repairs? Walker is obviously nothing more than practice squad fodder if Echemendu can do in 2 weeks what Walker has been unable to do so since getting resigned to the practice squad.

That injury came because he didn't stretch appropriately, and was working really hard to find his roster spot. I think Ahman will teach him proper stretching and that will take J.E. a long way in his coming greatness.
