For the second time this season, the Texans have the dubious pleasure of having a player serve as Peter King's Goat of the Week. Pittman earns the distinction for his colossal screw-up yesterday. He certainly deserves this title, but I think Turk should share the honor with him for his pathetic failure to kick the ball out of the end zone.

Goat of the Week

Houston long-snapper Bryan Pittman. Long-snappers are noticed only when they blow it big-time, and you can't blow it bigger than Pittman did at Qualcomm Stadium against the Chargers. Snapping from the Houston 33 midway through the first quarter, he launched his snap five feet over punter Matt Turk's head, into the end zone, where it was recovered for a San Diego touchdown by Antonio Cromartie. Easiest touchdown of Cromartie's life, you can be sure of that.

Easy to pick on a team when they are down, this is why Peter King ranks up there with Skip Bayless, right below a hunk flab of whale poo and just above lawyers and car salesman(no offense to those who are)...

This team DESERVES to be kicked while its down. Open your eyes.

I have no ill-will towards Pittman whatsoever. Pittman arguably has been the Texans' most consistent player and best at his position than any other player on the team.

Peter King is a tool who probably didn't even know who Bryan Pittman was or even knew he played in the NFL a week ago.

Everybody has a bad day from time to time.........yesterday Bryan Pittman had his first "bad day" in 5 seasons.

Peter King ... probably didn't even know who Bryan Pittman was or even knew he played in the NFL a week ago.

That may be true, but Pittman's screw up has caused a lot of people to know who is he is now.

No team deserves to be kicked while they are down, it is called class. Might want to look that word up.

Wrong. The players and coaches are supposed to be among the best in the world at what they do, and are paid enormous amounts of money to do it. If they don't do their jobs, they should be held accountable like most other people are when they don't perform.

I think the goats are really the safeties, who seemed to forget that the Chargers have a player, #85, named Antonio Gates.

He's only the best TE in the league, and is still a top 8 receiver even if you compare him to all the WR out there!

Alot of people that don't know crap about long snapping. People that appreciate and are knowledgable about the position know Pittman's one of the best in the game.

There are plenty of goats on the Texans team and coaching staff right now. It looks like Faggins is going to take the fall for letting Gates run free on his first touchdown. Hopefully Bennett will replace Faggins' sorry @ss in the starting lineup for good.

He didn't show that yesterday.

one snap out of how many this year goes over a punter head and you wanna kill this guy? Why didn't the punter kick the ball out of the back of the endzone like he is suppose to? If Pittman is the Goat, what does that make Turk tripping over his own feet?

Goat droppings?

I said at the top that the punter should've shared this "honor" with Pittman. His failure to kick the ball out of the endzone was absolutely inexcusable, especially for a veteran punter.

He didn't show that yesterday.

Your right, he only showed it for every other snap he has made in his 5 year career with Houston......give me a break.

There are alot of other players, that are ALOT easier to bash, then a guy who has one bad play in his entire career.

I agree with you that there are plenty of players and coaches on the Texans team that deserve to be bashed, but Pittman deserves to be bashed too.

I agree that is was a bad play. But I also agree that everyone makes mistakes and seeing as this was his first, he should be cut some slack. :confused:Turk definately deserves to be called out as well, how hard is it to kick the ball out of the endzone, when your a kicker???? But there were many others than just those two that made awful plays yesterday. I was physically sick to my stomach after watching the game, and I am sure the Texans are too after watching the tapes. But on the flip-side, it can't get much worse than what we saw yesterday, right??

Yeah, that play resulted in 7 points, or if Turk would have kicked it out of the endzone, just 2 points.

There were real goats that accounted for the Chargers' other 28 or so points.
