erroneousTHE SAINTS under coach of the year Sean Payton#1 offense in the NFL (despite first year in new system)Defense ranked #12 last year21 of 22 starters are returingOn Defenseaddeed safties Kavisharn and Roman Harper returning from injuryadded cornerbacks Jason David (starting #2 with Colts), Usama Young and another young corner in the draftadded mlb Simmonsadded DT Clancyoffenseadditions of WR Meachem and RB Pittmanplus two OL in the draftI ask you, who in the Saints division is going to beat them? Tampa Bay? The Falcons? Thats just silly. Saints are better than da bears this year, and haters will come to realize this by early Feb. of next year.

I think it will be either:
Patriots vs. Seattle
or
Ravens vs. Seattle

I just don't like Chicago's chances this year, with Grossman as QB and Benson now the starting RB

Here's my thoughts on the Saints:
They were buoyed up on the goodwill feelings of NFL fans across the nation as well as the pride of playing for the people of New Orleans; this is why they played so well at the beginning of the season. But as the season went on that effect began to wear off, things started to return to normal, and they didn't play as well. They started off 5-1, had their bye week, and then went 5-5 the rest of the season. They did beat the Eagles, but got beat down by Da Bears.
I'm not saying that they'll drop off to their Aints level, but I see them falling to, say, the 8-8, 7-9 level.
Oh, and as for the Super Bowl (I've posted this in a previous SB prediction thread, not sure how many people saw it):
AFC Championship Game: Browns defeat Raiders 35-17
NFC Championship Game: Cardinals defeat Lions 56-55
Super Bowl: Cardinals defeat Browns 46-19

Ravens vs. Cowboys
Ravens win....
I'm not a Cowboy's fan, but with Wade Phillips defensive mind and the talent they have on defense, they will not have much trouble in the JV-NFC....

Does that mean you think David Carr is going to take the Panthers to a division title? Which team is going to win the NFC south, and why are the better than the saints?

Haha, you know, I hate on every team in the NFC South (I think we can beat all of them this year), but I don't really know who would win. The Bucs are probably out (watch them surprise me and everyone else), the Falcons have QB question marks, the Saints I think will drop somewhat, and the Panthers usually seem to underachieve. Then again, the Panthers have a pattern going of mediocre/great/mediocre/great/mediocre, so this might be a great year for them.
It wouldn't surprise me, though, to see the winner of that division be 8-8.

do i think carolina is better then the saints, yes i do. do ithink carr will be the starter, no way. delhomme is a much better QBthen carr. delhomme has been to the superbowl, carr hasnt evensniffed the playoffs. banking on what your team did last year ishardly a predictor for how the coming season will go. your season willgo how brees goes. as zagen said you were 5-5 last 10 weeks ofthe season, not a very good way to finish your season. peytonsoffense was a new offense with new schemes that teams were unpreparedfor. this season there is 18 games worth of film to helpprepare teams for what they will see. till the saints provethe can win over a periods of seasons, not just 1. i have tothink they wont have a good chance to make the playoffs. i dont hatethe saints, nor do i really like them either. i am impartial tothem at best. they are in the JV conferance. weakerconferances tend to make teams that play in them look better then theyreally are. alot more teams will be playing safeties closer tothe flat to prevent bush from getting all those screen passes. theeagles showed a perfect coverage scheme to counter bush. can thesaints make the playoffs? sure they can. does it mean theyare a lock, not by a long shot.

It is an interesting stat that the Saints went 5-5 at the end of the season, I dont attribute it to the same reasons as zagen though. The Saints lost games because of their defense. In the second half of the season, #2 CB Fred Taylor started to show his age and get burned a lot, and the Saints starting safety Roman Harper got a season ending injury after playing well in the first 5 games. I think the defense got a lot better in the off season, which is why i think the saints should be favorites in the NFC south, if not the NFC conference. I agree that the division is weak, which is why I think the Saints should make the playoffs this year. I also agree with you in that the season will go which ever way the Brees goes. If he stays healthy and plays every game, I see the Saints in the Superbowl this year. I understand the scepticism, but I dont agree with it. Im not sure what Carolina has done to improve their team, picking up DC sure aint gonna do it.

Green Bay over the Jets...
...so Brett Favre can finally retire.
The Jets beat the Patriots to get there ( because I hate that whole Belichick snubbing Mangini thing)
All the NFC teams lay down in the playoffs

...so Brett Favre can finally freakin' retire

misterpc, trust me when i say. carr has nothing to do with my assementof the panthers. carr is a backup, which mean to me, he is ablip. a nobody. carolina has a clock grinding offense, andthey have a solid line that helps the running game. plus theyhave steve smith which allows them to run the ball effectivly due tothe fact they cant key in on the run for fear steve smith withexplode. he is one of the few WR that can carry an offense on hisown. they picked a good yound WR in jarret who will give them achain moving wideout that will free smith up to do what he doesbest. they have a solid RB in DeAngelo Williams. carolina defenseis always good. panthers were the superbowl favorite before theyhad an extreme case of the injury bug last season. not sayingcarolina will be a playoff team. but thier track record speaksfor itself.

Last year the rest of the Texans were so bad that no QB could have saved them. Can't really evaluate Carr on a team with mediocre RBs, a bad O-line and one decent receiver, especially when the defense puts the offense in a hole by blowing big plays like letting Bills QB JP Losman throw 80yd TDs over their safeties.
On the other hand, the Panthers are a more well-rounded team in which a number of QBs can do well, including Carr when he gets his opportunity.
As for the Saints, the NFC South will be between them and the Panthers. I'd guess the Saints will be back in the playoffs.

all i am going to say is.

if we would have had any other quality starter in there besidecarr. we would have won 2 or 3 more games. and thedefense wouldnt be blowing all those leads if the offense could havestayed on the feild longer then just a 3 and out. also is it tomuch to ask for someone not to fumble a snap every dam game?
oh and lets try and keep to passing behind the line ofscrimagge. but no, a real QB couldnt have helped us atall.......

NFC: Saints vs. AFC: Titans/Pats [:D]
AFC:If the Titans make the playoffs Vince will enter superman mode. If not then the powerhouse Patriots will go to the superbowl.
NFC: The Saints are the best team in the NFC, that is if the bears keep Grossman as their QB.
