I've been pimping DB Charles Godfrey for awhile as our 4th round pick, and the kid is coming up big for Iowa. First off, I like him as a FS. He's physical and supports the run. At 6'1 210lbs, he's got a perfect frame for the position. Not to mention he runs a 4.35 40yd.

He's got 60 tackles, 5 INT's, and 9 PBU (4 PBU today against a formidable duo of WR's). The kid has the measurables, the production and ballskills, and he plays at a reputable school and a reputable conference. Not to mention he won't cost a 1st day pick because he's pretty much running under the radar.

Sounds like he's a player.

Thanks for the Heads Up.
Charles Godfrey sounds like a piece to the Texans puzzle that needs to get serious consideration. There is plenty of "under the radar" talent out there and if this guy is real like you say he is, then lets hope the Texans recognize his talent too.

I have a question...

If this guy has the measurables. Runs a sub 4.4 40, and is such a force, why is he only graded out as a 4th rounder?

I would rather know before I draft someone who may avg missing 4 games a year due to substance abuse or run ins with the law.

PBU stands for "passes broken up"

he's only a 2 year starter, and Iowa hasnt exactly been on the map in a few years. that's one of the reasons why he's under the radar. he was only a 2 star recruit coming out of highschool, so he's had to work his way from the bottom up.

last season he had 83 tackles, 2 INT's, and 5 PBU. he has experience at free safety as well, so it's not like he's a CB turned into a FS.

not to mention he's from Baytown, TX and played at Robert E. Lee HS.

Players that have no business even seeing an NFL field have outstanding measurables, but it doesn't mean they make it as players. I've never seen Godfrey play, but those measurables look pretty good to me. I'd like to see him play for myself. I'll check out a Hawkeye game before season's end.

my guess is most people that smoke pot would quit for millions of dollars and un-buy-able fame...just a sit down and a talk would reveal the guy's true character.

"hey, will you quit being such a ******* for like 8 years?"

It sure was the winning formula for a lot of suspended and banned players.

it's the production that really caught my eye. this safety class is not very strong or deep, so i was looking for CB's who could switch over to FS. i found that Godfrey played some FS in his earlier years before switching over to CB last year. i noticed he racked up a bunch of tackles, showing that he's willing to support the run...or that he gives up alot of catches and then brings the guy down. but this year he's really made strides. 5 INT's shows his ballskills. 9 PBU shows he can stick with receivers. this past week he had to match up against 2 WR's in Eric Decker and Ernie Wheelright. he had 4 tackles and 4 PBU. Decker and Wheelright combined for 8 catches for 55 yards and 1 TD. Decker is 6'2 215lbs and Wheelright is 6'5 215lbs.

I am just stuck at a boring day job and just discussing. Sorry if you felt victimized, By the way off topic but Tony Hills just broke his leg out for the year. He may be a late round steal now.

He can run but He can't hide. If he is as good as you say he is He may go round 1 after the combine.

Id kill for Antonio Cromartie after the flashes he has shown the last few weeks.

SPeaking of which does that make Quentin Jammer expendable for them?
