Assuming we hire a guy from outside the organization, who would you want to be our OC heading into the 2008 season?
Can you say Denny Green? haha just kidding!
Indianapolis Colts QB Coach (forgot his name; not looking it up) would be a great hire.

There's plenty of arm chair coaches on this board that should apply ;)

From my understanding in what I read in the sunday chronicle, Kyle Shanahan will be the new OC next year.
"If Mike Sherman leaves the Texans for the Aggies, the natural progression would have quarterbacks coach Kyle Shanahan becoming the offensive coordinator."

That's exactly who I figure to be OC. Kubiak owes Daddy a favor.

Even though he has sucked as a HC in college I would consider Charlie Weiss, he was a good OC for New England while he was there.

and you know this....how?
c'mon man, maybe it's just that kid-shanny has a pretty stout knowledge of football (seeing as how his dad won a few rings), a pretty stout knowledge of the players we have on offense, and a drive to be better than people his age?
sure, i'll give you that the connection may have helped him get a wr job...but i don't think the OC is a position of "hand-outs"
Hey Kyle,
I'm sorry. I thought I'd just make a comment that was eventually going to be made and put some fun in the thread. Oh well I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Let me add to my statement by saying I don't want to just work on the inside of our operation. I would like to see Kyle get beat out of the job or I would like to see Kyle beat someone else out. Not just ' Hey Mike is gone, Kyle get a headset.'

Kyle Shanahan Would be a great fit because one he has a rapport and understanding of our QB of the Future in Matt Schaub. Plus Kubiak would not have given him a coaching job if the kid could not handle it. Finally Kubiak is pretty much the OC as it is now, all the offensive plays run through Kubiak so its not like the kid is getting the keys and driving this offense he is just riding shotgun with a map. :D

You took so much offense to this I thought you might be Kyle Shanahan. It's a joke.

I think Shanahan is ready after working with the WRs and QBs the last 2 years. I's like to see continuity within the organization. That's definitely what the Broncos built within their organization and it got them 2 Super Bowls. Heck, at this point I'd settle for 1 Super Bowl win :)

oh...well....
i'm not.
i didn't really take offense to anything either, i just don't think the OC job is just given on favors....maybe wr coach is...but not the OC.
Agreed. BTW thanks for the agreement on the Owen Daniels benching. Saw that. Peace Bro!!!

Josh McDaniels from the pats. He was there from the beginning coaching Tom Brady.

No matter who it is, they'll be calling for his head at the first bump in the road.

much like Kubiak was to Mike Shanahan when he was an up and coming OC in Denver.

Kubiak was 34 when he was named offensive cooridinator at Denver.
He had been an NFL QB for 9 years (backing up a Hall of Famer), a college RB coach for 2, and was coming off one very successful year as a QB coach when his pupil was named NFL MVP.
Shanahan is 27, was a graduate assistant in college for one year, a quality control assistant in the NFL for 2 years, a WR coach in the NFL for one year, and a QB coach in the NFL for one year.

Yea Im sure the kid knows x's and O's if we could get anyone outside the organization, I would go Greg Knapp out of Oakland, he knows this offense very well and was with Schaub in Atlanta. I just hope Shanahan calls plays from the booth I don't like OCs on the sidelines you cant see the formations as well as yu can from the booth.

Thanks for the info but I wasn't comparing the two, I was commenting more on the remark "Plus Kubiak would not have given him a coaching job if the kid could not handle it."
I suppose I should've clarified a little better :)
