Anybody else hear that?

Considering Jets v. Chiefs is a crappy game, I'd hope they would.

it would make sense. The Texans showed they are for real on Thursday. The Jax game is also a home game, battle red day again I believe, so it would be awesome to get some better coverage. Sure would be more exciting than Chiefs vs Jets.

Last week was kinda painful in the blow out game. It got so dull that Madden was talking about shell fish.

Wouldn't it be great if he just brought up something totally inappropriate? When we are blowing out the jags of course. "So I invited this girl to come in my bus"

Hm. Interesting. I'm gonna ask the Chronicle media guy in his blog... I'll post again when he replies.

I didn't think they did flex scheduling in week 17.

According to the NBC website, they can still flex the final game... also, there's a good chance that FOX would protect Skins/Cowboys... so I don't think it's a complete impossibility... I asked David Barron... again, I'll post when he replies.

...that all sounds really logical. Thanks for the inquiry on this. It goes without saying this would be great for the franchise, and the fans.

The game vs. the Jags at home on another Battle Red Day would make a great Sunday night game. In addition it will also be a division rivalry with possible playoff implications. Those are great ingredients for a prime time game. Then again, Cowboys vs. Redskins or Patriots possibly getting a perfect season may reduce our chances. Whatever happens, our guys show that they can put on a show during a prime time game!

I really think if we can win in Indy and be 8-7 vs an lets say 10-5 Jags team would be at very worst a late start game but with most of the playoff spots wrapped up they will be looking for the most compelling game and the Pats play Sat Night...so I really think Cowboys vs Redskins and our game should be the best two.

Exactly - Pats/Giants is an NFL Network Saturday game, so it can't be used for the flex schedule, and CBS and FOX are both allowed to protect one game from their schedule per week during the flex part of the season - and it stands to reason that FOX would obviously choose to protect Skins/Cowboys.
Here's a problem though... if FOX does protect that game, another FOX game that week is Packers/Lions. I could see NBC picking that over Jags/Texans for sure.
Looking at the schedule, CBS would probably protect Titans/Colts for that week. They don't have anything compelling for TV after that.
Anyway, we can hope. I do remember hearing at some point that they won't flex the last week of the season for some legal reason or another - but I went to the NBC website and there's an asterisk next to the Jets/Chiefs game that says it could still be flexed out.

SWEET!! Here is Chronicle Sports Media Blogger David Barron's response, with my question ahead of it!
David,
I see that the final flex game for NBC is Jets/Chiefs. Uh, that's a garbage game. Is there ANY chance they might roll with Texans/Jags? I assume FOX would protect Cowboys/Redskins that week... Can you put in a call to NBC for us Texans fans who got such a good taste of the national coverage atmosphere last night?
There are no protected games the final weekend, but the Cowboys have hit their maximum number of appearances, so that game won't be changed. The league certainly will want a game in prime time with playoff implications, so if the Texans-Jaguars game fills the bill, it could happen.

http://www.nfl.com/schedules/tv/flexible
For example, a game scheduled for a Sunday could move from a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff to an 8:15 p.m. start, but the change would be made and announced no later than the prior Tuesday, 12 days prior.
Week 17 start time changes could be decided on 6 days notice to ensure a game with playoff implications.

Great information, Thanks!
So if we were talking about any week other than 17 we would know a lot sooner. Since it is week 17 that we're concerned with, NBC won't announce it until after the week 16 games are played. That way they can try to pick a game that is important to the playoff picture.

This is looking good, it may happen.
We wouldn't have played Indy yet and we're a good challenge for the playoff bound Jags.

Hello,
If I understand the flex scheduling set by the NFL, you are able to change games schedules from normal day time kickoff and swap them with a prime time game's place in weeks 11-17. If this is true, I have input. Neither the Chiefs or Jets have a chance of making the playoffs and is a relatively mediocre game for week 17. After looking over the schedule, the Cowboys have exceeded their maximum amount of (prime time?) games. I can't find anything else more exciting than the Jaguars at the Texans.
I am a fan of many teams, but one most of the Texans because I live in Houston. The Texans just had their first prime time game in 2 years this past Thursday. The Broncos have had 3 this season including an appearance on NBC's Sunday Night Football and yet another one coming up on ESPN's Monday Night Football. This week against the Broncos, the Texans ripped them apart 31-13 and are very deserving of another prime time game. The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of Houston's biggest rivals and will surly be exciting with playoff implications. The city will be fired up, the crowd will be loud, and you could only feel sorry if you didn't make it prime time. This is a team on the rise, and has been plowing teams on their way. This is something the nation wants to see, not 2 underachieving teams that won't make the playoffs. Nothing is better than prime time in Houston with something to play for.
NFL Network's Saturday Night Football will be the Patriots and the Giants. That will probably not be changed. So the Jets and Chiefs game on Sunday Night Football is really the thing to replace. This is the best, most logical move to make. Please consider this message very carefully and I'm sure many of us can guarantee this will create great results.
Thank you for your time,
