The Houston Texans secondary has ben ravaged by injury this year and they have seemed to have responded to adversity and have played alot better in the second half of the season. The acquisition of Will Demps was a great one and the emergence of Fletcher and Bennet have given the Texans hope for a solid secondary with the return of Glenn Earl and Daunta Robinson. I feel that if the Texans draft a secondary player in the first round it is gonna make them alot better against the pass and with the dominating D-line that the Texans are developing our defense could be solid enough to give our high scoring offense more opportunities. All in all the main problems with the Texans has been their inability to get off the field on third down. The secondary has improved and so has the Texans sucess on third down stops. I can only hope they continue this trend because it will mean great things for the Texans in the future.

I want to start by seconding the motion to give props to the secondary, but also say the reason for our great night was coaching. All to often, the coaches call for zone defense. I hate the zone defense as it says. "I'll let you catch the ball, but I'm gonna tackle you as soon as you do." Last night we ran almost exclusively man coverage where our secondary is responsible each man to his opponent. When we play man coverage and rush the QB, he has no where to go but to throw it away, but in zone cover there's ALWAYS someone open somewhere.

I'll give major props to Will Demps. The rest of the secondary was ok, not great.

I'll give major props to Will Demps. The rest of the secondary was ok, not great. He was involved in alot of plays, but he had a couple of passes that should have been easy picks. If this game is closer those are game breaking plays that could decide the outcome of the game.

He didnt get the picks, but he read the plays perfectly and broke up the passes. One of those would have been a touchdown if Demps hadnt been there. Dude was all over the field making tackles and breaking up plays. Dont forget about that deep pass that would have been caught right at the goal line if Demps hadnt timed it perfectly. I'd rate his performance an A, if he had held on to one of those picks it would have been A+. Either way there isnt much room to complain about the way he was playing.

Our Defense was agressive (BLITZ). There was a few games that we didn't blitz because of the d-backs. After last week's success, the can of blitz ***** was opened. The secondary responded great. Keep up the good work guys.
ps: Demps, please use pine tar, rosin or Lester Hays stickum. lol

No doubt the play of Bennet at corner and MR.DEMPS has allowed for more agressive play calling on defence you could see the blitz scheme take over in the 4thQ.Great job of TEAM D.I wonder if that bronco rec. ever got all the sod out of his face he didnt come over the middle again.Thank You MR.DEMPS that was a money shot;)

Bennett is a VERY good player. He may have been a 4th round pick, but he deserved to be in the 2nd. He and Dunta (when he gets back next year, :( ) will be the Gamecock duo that only Texas can hold! They will be great together, and will dominate any WR's they come up against.
Go Gamecocks!
Go Texans!

What's up Gamehorn! Haven't seen you in a while. Glad to see the other Gamecock has stepped up and filled the hole left by the original Gamecock. I have to admit, I love what I've seen out of Bennett. I truly hope Dunta is able to come back strong next season cuz our secondary would be scary good with both on the field at the same time playing at a high level.

This week we have extra time to prepare and I beleive a couple of days working with the receiver coach would be helpful. Allow pass catching practice for all D backs. It could only help.

Generally the defensive secondary is made up of wide recievers and tight ends that can't catch the ball. If Demps had better hands, he would be playing offense opposite Owen Daniels. When they do finally catch one, it looks great, but generally their job is to put the ball on the ground (like they prob did when trying out for WR or TE).

I mentioned this last night in the heat of battle, but I'm wondering if Demps is having difficulty seeing the ball? He had what, three interceptions in his hands and lost all of them.

Either way there isnt much room to complain about the way he was playing.Agreed about Demps, the man has been paying off nicely over the last month & he defintely deserves his due.As for the dropped balls the man will tell you himself that is why he plays D & not O.At this point & time no one can say he hasn't been worth the money we spent on him.People need to get use to the idea that he is here to stay.
