We know that LT and C are the two weakest spots on the OL but after that rate in order the starters on the o-line that you think need to be upgraded this offseason...here are mine:

1. Salaam LT
2. Mckinney/Flanagan C
3. Weary RG
4. Pitts LG
5. Winston RT

1. Salaam - only because Spencer is an unknown quantity and Salaam has no backup.
2. Center With McKinney this may resolve the issue.

3. Weary - Can he be back for next year and will the team resign him?

4. Pitts - Had to help both center and tackle has managed to still start every game the rest of our team needs to workout like this guy.

5. Winston - PLayed well.

I think Flanagan needs to go.

I'd keep Salaam as a backup to whoever we draft in the first round this season (Oher!!!!) since he's a good lockerroom guy and has demonstrated that he's serviceable in a pinch...like this season.

I am still opposed to anything named "Wade" right now. Call me shell-shocked, gun-shy, superstitious, whatever...

Can't do it.

Why? Does it has to do with anything with the Astros?

^ I think that would be due to a certain former linemen with the initials TW who shall not be named...

On some of the sacks that lineman gave up, I think any of the turnstiles at Reliant Stadium would've slowed up the defender more than TW did. I'm serious - it would take longer for a big DE to get through the turnstile than to run untouched by TW. I'm surprised he's still in the NFL.

what about LeCharles Bentley? i've seen rumors that the Browns are looking to part ways with him. same situation as Charles Spencer, but i'm sure he's still got the mental aspect of the game down. if he can bounce back from his injury he could be solid center. probably a lot less demand for his services this time around.

I agree with this assesment fully!

Winston and Pitts have been the only backbone of our line IMO.

is it just my imagination but a few seasons ago wasn't everyone on this board ready to run mckinney out of town for his poor play? i never thought he was that aweful, put not great either. i do believe prior to his injury he definently started out much better this season then before flanigan was signed.

also pitts seemed to play much worse this year, false starts, beaten repeatedly earlier in the year.

salaam remember was brought in to be a backup and has effectivly started the last 2 years at lt, so we should keep him as a back up and ditch black who we signed this last offseason.

definently need the best player availible in the 1st round who is a lt this year.

Flanagan needs to go and Salaam and McKinney should be backups. We need a new LT and OC this offseason. If that happens, we could have a top OL.

I do not think salaam needs to go, but he needs to be replaced so he can be a backup again...

what about LeCharles Bentley? ...
I think we have enough experience with injured / injury prone OL already... Tony Boselli, Ryan Young, Flanagan, McKinney, Weary, Spencer, I forget the other 12... (I thought another LT got a broken leg early this year...)
The first 3 had injury history before they got here. The others started healthy. I'd rather take a chance will ones that start healthy.

I'm with you. He was brought in last year to give Spencer a blow from time to time and ended up being the man. Same scenario this year too, except Spencer never made it back.

I'm not sure if Spencer does make it back, he'll be 100%. And (I've said this before) in the two games where he was 100% our O-line gave up NINE sacks. So, was he really that good?? Anyway, as such, I'm starting to ask myself if it isn't time to draft another youngster for the LT spot. We'll be picking somewhere in the 15-18 range. A lineman taken in that spot shouldn't be too expensive.

And in answer to the original question posed by the thread-starter: Personally, I wouldn't dump any of the guys that started the year on the O-line. I'd dump Jordan Black in a heartbeat but all of the starters deservea chance to be beat out not just be "dumped".

And its, shall we say, "poor planning" to talk about dumping any starter unless you have, under contract (or at least "in your sights"), someone who stands an excellent chance of being a real upgrade at the position.

I don't see anything about who we would draft/sign to replace these "dumpees" in any of these posts except one. And I'm betting that anyone on that list that is worth his salt will be re-signed by his current team. The hard truth is that decent O-linemen - especially tackles - are tough to come by. No sane coach/GM will let a starting caliber OLineman walk.
