One of SI's guys gave his list of 10 veterans who are on the decline: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/bucky_brooks/06/12/players.on.decline/index.html
To my great surprise, Ahman Green was not on this list!
I don't know what this should mean to anyone, but at least there's someone out there who hasn't dismissed Green just because he's 30.

Just because he isn't on that list doesn't mean that he's not on the decline.
I think you could get a few productive years out of Green.
Three years ago he rushed for 1800 yards! He only got 255 yards in 05 though because of a leg injury.
He came back from it and gained 1049 yards last season, so I think he could do good for you guys.

Dont agree with jamal lewis and jeremiah trotter. Cleveland's offense is starting to come around. This will be the season for him, with quinn starting he should get a number of touches. As far as trotter goes he is up there in age but he's still got the touch. The philly defense just spends to much time on the field, he looks slugglish but hell i still wouldn't run the ball his way.

i agree the trent green and jamal lewis are on the decline and thats a good thing cause we play both of those teams this year. I dont think trent will be that great. i just hope he doesnt get hurt that bad again like last year. OUCH, i wouldnt wish it on any QB (maybe young MADDEN CURSE)

First of all this is by Bucky Brooks I go who knows what decline is he lived it.
Secondly for the most part alomost every guy on his list has had a few injuries over the past couple of years. Of course they are gonna look like they are in decline after weeks of not playing football.
I mean He doesn't mention the people who are declining period,
10 players like Reuben Droughns, Warren Sapp, Ty Law, Charles Woodson, Rodney Harrison, John Abraham, Leonard Davis, Tony Gonzalez, Duante Culpepper, Fred Taylor

how can you mention decling players without at least putting Eli Manning on that list, and Aaron Brooks (declined so much he ain't even a back-up). I agree with him listing Jeramiah Trotter, I don't however agree with Simeon Rice because he is simply putting him on the list because last year was his first season not having double digit sacks since 2000, and it was only the third season he has had as an NFL player without double digit sacks, if Rice does get cut I hope he signs with a 3-4 team and plays OLB he would be able to move around, and use his speed to get to the qb. He would be a total beast in a place like Arizona. Also I don't agree with the listing of Rod Smith either, Rod is a great player but is starting to decline because he is in his late 30's plus for the first time in his career he isn't asked to be the top reciever also he shut his mouth and played on a bad hip all last season, also the emergence of Brandon Marshall towards the end of the season took away more oppurtunites you try getting balls thrown your way when you are barely 6'0 tall and you play alongside Marshall who is 6'4 and Walker who is 6'3.

Like I said about Green...Brooks and Eli were never high enough to even have a decline. Especially Manning. IMO he's Archie's son and Peyton's lil' bro. and therefore he is overrated.
I don't think Eli is declining because he hasn't been in the league long enough. But I do think he belongs on the Overrated list, right next to Tony Romo.

That list is right on, just take out shockey, The giants had him blocking more through-out the entire season, I'm thinking he should have a decent season this year.

Sooooo are you guys saying that if we could get any of these guys for, say a two-year deal (while we developed some youngster at their position), and that contract was incentive-based, you wouldn't take any of them....?
You wouldn't like to see Issac Bruce opposite AJ? Or have Harrison, Minter, or Winfield back at safety instead of C.C.Brown...? You wouldn't rather have picked up Ogden instead of Jordan Black...?
Maybe you're right.... I'm just askin'....
