View Full Version : PacMan sought for recent shoot-out in Georgia
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6934854
If this is true, this guy is DONE.
I remember on draft day, three years ago, when the cameras showed PacMan in his home...as the call came that the Titans were picking him...and the analyst said something to the effect of "You have to wonder about the Titans reasoning here, picking up PacMan this early in the draft (No. 6 overall), because he's a guy who reportedly has off-field character issues."
You can talk about Capers/Casserly and how they might have made some drafting errors, but the Titans rank (in my opinion) as the All-Time Champ of Draft Goof Up for ignoring the warning signs that existed with PacMan in college.
The 2005 first round wasn't very deep in talent--It's the year we picked TJ at 16, and Pollack went to Cincy oe pick before us (he's hurt, I think, and not contributing).
Heath Miller went to Pittsburgh near the bottom. Logan Mankins (G) went to New England with the 32nd pick in the fist round. In retrospect, those two picks were probably some of the best in the first round.
The Titans totally blew a No. 6 overall pick on PacMan. Can't wait until someone in the media picks up on this and runs a story on it.

If he was not involved directly in the shooting how is this career ending? I mean granted it is stupid to go to a strip club where things have been known to go down. But he is clearly being sought only as a witness at this point so I wouldn't say he is done.

I think it is something to the effect of him always seeming to be around trouble. Everywhere he goes, someone seems to be getting into a fight or getting shot. I'm not saying that trouble follows him, but he seems to be where trouble is an awful lot, and that really makes you question his intelligence in choosing his friends.

Yeah I'm with you. Police said that he was not present when the shooting occurred and were seeking him as a witness only. I would guess that this incident by itself will have no affect on his reinstatement.

maybe he intentionally went to this place thinking if something goes down he can be a witness and bust whoever screwed up and look like a night in shining armour.

Its upsetting to see so many honest, hardworking people in the world struggle through life, when you hear about people like PacMan and Vick, who waste the athletic talent they were blessed with and contribute nothing to the advancement of society...
How is it potentially career-ending, you ask?
Because Roger Goodell can do it.
He doesn't need convictions (He suspended PacMan without PacMan even getting indicted yet).
If PacMan was around this incident, he "can" be gone in a heartbeat.
Roger is different than Tagliabue. Roger is laying down the law. BIG TIME.

I don't think that Goodell would suspend Adam for life over this; if he wasn't involved, then it's kind of cruel to extend the punishment from one year to forever over something that he didn't do.
But on the other hand, I do think that this makes Goodell less likely than before to reduce the suspension, as it shows that Adam still has not cut himself off from these leeches. Adam needs to tell these guys "Hey, you're ****ing up my life because you can't go out without shooting at someone. You have proven that you are incapable of not starting trouble. I know that we've been friends, but quite frankly I for one would like to grow up and not continue to behave like a thug." If he doesn't do this, then it tells the general public that he still somewhat condones his posse's actions, as he chooses to remain associated with these people.

PunkMan needs to take a lesson from Ray Lewis or Allen Iverson. They used to hang with their hoodrat posses' until it almost cost them jail time. When it got to the point they would (a) go to jail or (b) lose their big paychecks, they both cut the "gangstas" out of their lives and made the few friends they thought worth keeping straighten up their acts.
How stoopid can he to be not to realize that if his "posse" gave a crap about him, they'd be doing all they could to help him keep his name out of the papers and save his job. But noooooo.... they seem to be doing just the opposite. How long will it take him to realize these guys are hangers-on not true friends??
And what happened to PunkMan's supposed self-imposed curfew. He told Goodell, not more than a month ago, that he would no longer frequent those types of clubs and not stay out after midnight. Did I read the article right? Was he out at 4 am? ...at a strip club?? If both of those reports are correct, he can't even keep his own word.
Like Valdez said, PunkMan needs to have this opportunity taken from him and given to someone who won't screw it up.

I wouldn't lump Pollack in there, he was a exciting player and had a promising career until he broke his neck.......just a shame. He was one of those too small, not fast enough tweeners that had a great motor and I think he would of been very successful in this league.

I agree that this latest incident probably won't result in anything as severe as a lifetime ban, since technically PacMan wasn't directly involved. But It definitely ends any possibility of an early re-instatement from his current suspension.
I personally don't get it. The only thing I ever achieved by going to strip clubs was coming home broke and smelling like I had just been to a strip club.

Yea and then the next 3 days you smell like a strip club, booze broken dreams and some sort of body spray that just does not wash out of clothes.
The initial report (I based my thread on it) was that PacMan was with them.
If he is found to have NOT been with them, then I agree with you guys that he'll be safe from Goodell.
Goodell told him this was the last chance. Should be interesting to see how it plays out. If he wasn't with them, then maybe it'll be the final wake-up call.
The guy is so talented, there's no arguing it, but he's headed to ruin if he doesn't get out of that lifestyle. It's as if he's using his football fame and fortune to supplement his real passion: Being a gangsta' hoodlum.
Meanwhile, another Bengal gets arrested...bringing the total to 10 thus far.

"The report said that Jones was told by off duty Clayton County deputy Devele Andrews, who was working security, to leave with his group."
"Andrews also stated that he heard Jones say as he was leaving, “[Expletive] this. I’m going to the car to get my gun,” according to the police report. That was when, according to Andrews’ statement, he ordered Jones and his group to leave."

“The shooting occurred somewhere near the freeway, and Adam was long gone by that point. Apparently both groups of people were shooting at each other, and the one group called the police first. So I don’t know who really started what. It’s another incident where people mention Adam’s name as being involved and suddenly their word is the treated as the Gospel.”
Haygood said he did not initially know who Jones was, but his nephew Demonta Haygood told him it was Jones.

Of course the guy that is filing the report is gonna say it was Pacman who said it. He didn't even know who Pacman was. You gotta be kidding me if you think that is gonna cast a shadow over him.
I just love the name of the club.
Club Blaze was the scene of the first police incident, an alleged fight, surrounding Jones just days after he was drafted by the Titans in 2005. No charges were pursued in that incident.
Club Blaze??? Sounds like the place is just crawling with VD if you ask me.

The problem is that PacMan ALREADY has a dark cloud over him.
Now if he wasn't there, and has an verifiable alibi, he should sue the officer who filed the report and the club, make them retract those statements, and clear his name.
What gets me is that if PacMan has these kinds of issues - this stripper addiction - why doesn't he seek out the kind that make "house calls"?? He's got enough money. Why does he have to be out in public??

Because he craves the attention, maybe?
Everything about him screams "Look at me!"
IMO, he's a tragic figure that uses his stature in the NFL to prop up what has long been a standard of lifestyle that he is drawn to.

GP, I think you're right, he is a sad figure and is perilously close to losing the very thing that should be number 1 in his life - his football career.
Stoopid!!

I kinda feel bad for the guy he probly has low self esteem and listens to these guys who obviously don't give a D@#N about him. It all kinda makes sense to me because i have grown up with star athlethes who you just knew were gonna go pro but they let there friends and surroundings take advantage of them and ended up loseing everything. Ive seen a million pac mans he's no different. Take that same player and add different loveing friends and he would be a spokeperson for this leauge

I don't feel sorry for guys like him. He's a grown man that CHOOSES to live like a spoiled child. He thinks the world revolves around him and can do what he CHOOSES. He doesn't do these things because his friends talk him into it, he CHOOSES to surround himself with friends that encourage his behavior.
IMO he deserves everything that is coming to him. It's time for him to reap what he's sown.
