You think Tiki Barber is upset that the year after he retires, his team goes on to win the super bowl???

NO

He said often he wasn't not wanting a SB win. However, he could live if they won a title shortly after he retired. He said he felt he had a good carrer and a SB win would of just been a plus...not a need.

It's the offseason calm down.

Anyways...I think it's pretty obvious now that Tiki was nothing, but a wart to this team.

Don't get me wrong, Tiki seems like a nice guy, but a stuck up guy and I can't ignore the fact that it seems that once he left, a breath of fresh air blew all over the team.

All of a sudden the coach was cool with the players and the QB felt comfortable to grow.............I think we all know who the Ahole was that turned Coughlin in for improper practices his first year now.......it was "whiney butt, pretty boy, don't want to hurt my nails Tiki".

I am pretty sure it was more of a mistake the giants kept him for so long.

He had a good run. No way he could have predicted there win. In fact one scouting magazine picked them to go 6-10

Who cares. Tiki moved on because he "felt" it's the right time for him to get out. He thinks it was the right choice and the Giants moved on.

They moved on to win the Super Bowl. Sucks for Tiki.

Coincidence that malcontent Tiki and Jeremy Shockey both not on the field of rthe Super Bowl run? I think not. Character goes a long way. I think the Giants did fine without him. Probably why you won't see the following folks get Super Bowl rings:

Vick
T.Owens
Chad Johnson
Haynesworh
Pacman
DeAngelo Hall

and dozen of others. If there is a God, or at the very least, a football God...thse peopel will never see rings!

Let me first say I have alot of respect for Tiki Barber....He just came across as a crybaby for saying he didn't like Coughlin's hard-nosed style....He's now missed out on the biggest prize in pro sports.

Just because it's the offseason, it shouldn't give you a free pass to be retarded. Pay attention to the rules and put this crap most Texans fans don't care about in the right forum.

I agree. Same reason we didn't see Randy Moss get his last night.

I don't think that was the reason. He did have an outstanding season, and he did get the touchdown to put NE up with less than 3 mins left in the game. NE offense did what they had to do, the Giants just made some outstanding plays in that last minute. The loss doesn't say anything about Randy Moss.

I know he is right but, the biggest game of the year just went down so you will have people posting on the wrong threads. No big deal to me, and besides, its the offseason and we have to talk about something. Nothing going on right now with the texans so lets talk football in general.

It's all good man. I think he was just pointing out to the mods that this thread should be moved over to the NFL section where the other good non-Texans talk is going on.

Eli rode his defenses coattails to a super bowl victory, in my humbled biased opinion which i believe is always the correct opinion. :D

But really he did.

Nothing but the truth ^

And no way did he deserve the MVP award!!!

That should have gone to the D-line hands down. They did an amazing job of staying in Brady's face all day. He never got his timing down therefor the Pats big play option was taken away.

While I agree that the Giants D held NE in Check, NE was up by 4 with less than 2 minutes in the game and it was the offence led by Eli who drove down the field and won the game. Eli played outstanding against the Cowgirls and the Packers so I just think he should get a little more credit.

Probably at the time, Eli wasn't a good leader. Alot of the National sports talk show people were saying that, not just Tiki. I'm sure he isn't the first player to retire only to see their former team win a Super Bowl.
I listen to the Barber Shop all the time and I don't remeber Tiki ever laughing or belittling Eli about his leadership abilities. Saying that Eli (at the time) lacked leadership abilities was at the time a point of fact.
You know, that's Tiki's job now, to comment and analyze teams and players. I get sick and tired of these sports talk show people that are afraid to hurt someone's feelings by calling it as they see it.

He did win the game, and it's hard to take that away from him, but that play where he pulled away from the defense and just threw it out there and that guy catching it on his helmet. The credit should go to whoever caught that, (sorry forgot who caught that pass.) not Eli.

Hmm, actually it wasn't hard to take the credit away from him. :p

Well, Eli did somehow escape what 90 million + viewers thought was a sure sack and did get the ball to a reciever that had defenders all over him so I'd say he should get credit for at least 2/3 of that play. And if the reciever had put his hands around the ball before it hit his helmet there wouldn't even be a discussion.
Just sayin'...

One of the most exciting plays of the game!

I can't man. It's Eli freaking Manning. I just can't give him credit. I am mentally and emotionally unable to give him any praise whatsoever. :D Maybe if his nose wasn't so large in proportion to the rest of his face.

Ok back to the original content of this thread, Tiki retired because he had enough, made enough and figured why should he grow old crippled with bad knees or any other ailment that NFL players live with after THEIR glory days.

Now let me propose a question to all who have responded to this thread and that is who in there right minds even believed the freakin Giants would make the Super Bowl much less win the **** thing?

Surely not me... so hell yeah I can see where Tiki was coming from. ;)

I had the same deal with Elway after he snubbed the BALTIMORE Colts, but the passing of time took care of that. By the end of his carrer I was pulling for him.
With Elway it was his teeth.

I don't have any problem what so ever with Tiki retiring or anything he's said since. I'm sure there's a part of him that wishes he'd stuck it out to get this ring, but we can all second guess decisions we've made during the course of our life, but what are ya gonna do?

I think it's partly BECAUSE he retired that they made it to the Super Bowl. Great that they won too. I enjoyed seeing him interview Eli.
