View Full Version : Which Body Part of Mario Williams

lamont
05-14-2007, 01:58 PM
Plain and simple, if Mario Williams do not produce this year which body part will the team tell us is messed up. I say his Spleen or probably a Hang Nail. I am completely baffled with everyone saying this foot injury that I can not pronounce is this crucial, but yet this guy is playing on it. Please don't give me the tough crap because from what I am hearing you can hardly walk if you have this particular foot injury. I really hope mario have a breakout season and do amazing things but when you actually go back and watch college games of him I just get the jitters because he's no more than a COMBINE KING. Maybe Amobye will help out. My question to the forum WHICH BODY PART?

sigh.
Nice quality posts over here. not.
FYI, though I am not suggesting Mario Williams = Julius Peppers, or that their games are similar, their college statistics are eerily similar. And Williams was a true junior and not a redshirt junior like Peppers.
To suggest that Williams was just a combine warrior is revisionist history. He had similar college statistics with Peppers and better combine statistics than Peppers. And happened to have an injury you are willingfully ignorant about, but that of course doesn't stop you from making opinions about it anyways.
double sigh.

Moron....... next time your sitting around daydreaming about mario's body parts, maybe you should stop and think about it....not mario's body (because you obviously think about that alot). But moreso about the stupidity involved in what you are saying. I think it will help us all out.

Mario will be fine, so you should find someone else on the team who has'nt had a proper opportunity to prove themselves for you to ignorantly make fun of.

That injury you're talking about is plantar fasciitis.
The American Academy of Orthropedic Surgeons explain plantar fasciitis as...
When your first few steps out of bed in the morning cause severe pain in the heel of your foot, you may have plantar fasciitis (fashee-EYE-tiss). It's an overuse injury affecting the sole or flexor surface (plantar) of the foot. A diagnosis of plantar fasciitis means you have inflamed the tough, fibrous band of tissue (fascia) connecting your heel bone to the base of your toes.
http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/fact/thr_report.cfm?Thread_ID=144
It is very common among athletes, especially those in football and basketball. Tim Duncan ring a bell? As a lifelong Spurs fan, the effects of this injury were very clear in 2006. Coming off a championship year in 2005, Duncan wasn't nearly as dominating as he was in 2005 or now in 2007. Stop being a moron. It took me 2 seconds to look this up and you can do the same before making this lame topic. Education=Knowledge. Assumptions=*****.

I had a wrestler on my team get what Mario had and he was in a brace/cast for 3 weeks, having to miss the rest of the season.
He was a tough guy, so I know that it was really painful.
For Mario to even play on that and not miss time, he has earned my respect.

OK you and all of the other clowns that want to keep drinking the BATTLE RED KOOLAID just keep right on. That dude foot was no more hurt than David Carr being sacked. Injury was the Texan's way of the obvious Eff up made in the draft. And as far as the guy that's comparing stats, come on dude Norch Carolina State? Isnt that like in the ACC where the competition is Wake Forrest and Boston College, you have got to be kidding me. HEY Texans I jump really high and I can sprint the 40 in 4.7 and I can catch balls and i can do all of this without any pads on, I am the best Opstical Course football player on earth i.e. Combine King.
My beef is not with Mario because he had no choice in the situation, my beef is being lied to. MARIO did not have feet problems end of story, that was a strategic move to save face but to go back to those WONDERFUL college stats of Mario, you all do realize he gained 6 sacks in one game and that team was of course another garbage acc team Maryland. The fact that you can't even pronounce the name of the injury is enough for me to dismiss this thread right from the start. But since the rest of us "clowns" obviously don't posess the same crystal clear insight into this matter as you do, please enlighten us and provide some PROOF of your claim. Surely you have some information backing your claim that disputes Mario's official medical reports, otherwise you wouldn't have posted such an accusatory thread, right?

Saying he has an injury make all of you feel good of the possibilities but you all know in your heart of hearts you are wondering "WOW I really hope we didn't waist a 1st round pick". Heres the future time line of Mario Williams
2006 Summer - toe
2006 regular season - foot 4 sacks
2007 foot again ( maybe 5.5)
2008 foot again (3)
2009 foot again (6 )
2010 No injury, but viola its contract time 14 sacks but the texans record will be 1-15 BUT THANK GOODNESS we got MARIO

ACC. Julius Peppers played in the ACC too. The complaints when he was drafted is that he faced the Citadel.

Mario Williams: 126 solo tackles / 25 1/2 sacks / 55 1/2 tackles for loss
Julius Peppers: 128 solo tackles / 30 1/2 sacks / 53 tackles for loss
Their junior stats are pretty similar too:
Mario Williams: 62 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 blocked kick, 1 safety, 4 fumble recoveries, 27.5 tackles for loss Julius Peppers: 63 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 3 interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.

Name one shred of evidence that Mario Williams was faking a foot injury. Maybe you have it hidden in your underground bunker, your tin foil hat, your UFO lair, or your MB troll grotto.

The way these injuries work is by limiting the player and slowing the player down. Mario's performance follows the natural history of the injury(ies). With the help of "modern medicine" and physical therapies, the player can "make it" through the season. But without the needed long interval of rest to allow proper healing, performance can be expected to be unpredictable at best. The organization didn't have to lie to make things "fit"..........IT FITS.

RB and VY are offensive players. 95% of the highlights on any show or newspaper are offensive highlights unless a D guy takes the QB's head off or returns a fumble or INT for a TD they will get no press.

I probably shouldn't feed the troll but...
I did. And I don't follow college ball like a lot of people on this board so I'm sure they did, too. For people who were even moderately following the draft prior to the combine, Mario was a known quantity and was expected to go high. The combine just cemented his position.
You might not have known who he was but that's just because you probably only knew the names of 3-4 people who were on the board.

Dude get real, I mean really get real. I follow college football every saturday and I follow super conferences, mid conferences JUCO etc etc, and Mario Williams did not come about until the combine. In addition everyone in Houston was basically saying back in the february march area, ha ha ha Houston is only using Mario as a ploy because they felt Bush would hold out, but little to our surprise these cats was serious or went tooo far with mario they couldnt turn around, but that's old News. Ummm before the COMBINE, yes I did KNOW who MARIO was. Though I understand why many might not because DE's don't usually spend that much time on SportsCenter.
The best after the fact reports suggest that Mario Williams was likely going to go #2 last year if the Texans didn't pick him. Mario said after the draft that he had spoken mostly with New Orleans.
Look, under the older more civil MB I was as big of a VY to the Texans fan as there could be. But just because VY wasn't picked, doesn't mean the guy that was picked instead is going to be a terrible player. Maybe you should hold your water some before ripping him and making up foolishness about his injuries being make believe.
Reflexive negativity is a nice defense mechanism against further disappointment by weak minded individuals. You know, if you think everything is crap, then you can say told you so if it is, and if it turns out great, well then, you are pleasantly surprised. However, I will say that negative people aren't terribly fun people to invite to parties, so it is not a good way to go through life.
