Demeco is a lock in the middle but do yall still see us going with Greenwood and Clark on the outside like last year or will Charlie Anderson and Zac Diles crack the starting line-up???
personally i would wouldnt mind seeing Diles-Ryans-Anderson on the field at the same time...
we will probably add to the linebacking core next year but who that we have would yall like to see on the field???

Danny Clark and Charlie Anderson are both UFAs so it looks like OLB is going to be a target in FA/Rookie Draft

Not a fan of greenwoods so I hope diles gets the chance to shine.

If the Texans don't add a LB
Anderson/Diles - Ryans - Greenwood
If they do add a LB it's kinda up in the air at that point..

Now I know some people on this board have thought about it, and maybe most have mulled it over and thought they might as well not bother posting it, but how about this:
Dan Morgan 6-2 245
He's a low risk high reward option to compete at SLB. He was just cut as yall probably know. As you all also probably know, in 7 seasons, he hasn't played in more than 12 games in a year, and only 4 games in the last two. He would come pretty cheap and the only risk is that he takes up a roster spot. When he is on the field he is an elite linebacker.
What do yall say?

Funny thing. I was just tossing that idea around myself. Injuries are a major concern with Morgan at this point but nobody can dispute the guy's talent and intensity. He's got a natural instinct for the ball just like DeMeco. The question is can he stay healthy and be effective at SLB? If so, talent wise he would be a definite upgrade over Clark and Anderson, but his concussion problems would make him a considerable risk.

agreed...but not a risk to the salary cap. Just a roster spot. Unless you are considering the risk to Dan Morgan himself. I have to believe that the concussion issue can be solved by either changing mouth guards, helmets, or the style he uses to tackle, but what do I know? From the teams perspective I think he would be worth the risk, hoping a change of scenery can somehow help keep him healthy.
I also just ran across this...

Ian Gold, Broncos WLB could be released. At 29, he should have a few years left and could possibly compete with Greenwood for a starting spot. I know LB is not a huge need, but he might not be too expensive to take a look at.

What do yall say? After checking out his bio on several sites I would rather not invest in him.I would rather spend money elsewhere on someone who can complete a season. He was a good linebacker in college but has been injury prone in the pros......pretty much as HydrO said the concussions are a major issue.

Danny Clark played well for us and contributed heavily to the team's sucess on defense but still gets no love. If someone can beat him out in camp thats great but Clark should definitely be resigned. Clark > Anderson and Diles (according to Kubiak).

I don't think he's done. He'll play somewhere and for not much money. Whether he ends injured again is another question. He probably will. Personally I'd take a chance on him, but there is no right or wrong answer.
With regard to Clark, he is a big reason why we did better last year, but that's because it wasn't hard to upgrade Shantee Orr. He's a journeyman stop gap SLB. He's average at best in my opinion, but I'm happy with him. I'm hoping Diles (6-0 240) or C. Anderson (6-4 243) can take his place and be our future there. Nothing against Clark, but he's nothing spectacular and could potentially be upgraded without over spending. I'm not really worried about the LB positions though.
