That's right! I'm bring back the 4 year discussion. Here's why: Alex Gibbs. Gibbs will be reasessing the line. The way I see it, this line has a number of options at LT moving forward: Charles Spencer, Rashod Butler, moving Winston to LT, move Pitts to LT, a soon to be drafted rookie, a free agent, Salaam. I don't think Pitts will be the solution, but I do think it's in the discussion again.

If it works.I also think we use him at guard so he can help our interior running game expecting that we could find a legit LT,the only thing is....we haven't.

im looking forward to seeing what butler can do. he fits the bill of a gibbs o-lineman: under 300 hundred pounds with quick feet. the guy we got from kansas city last year is gonna get some good looks as well at tackle and probably guard

The whole O-Line situation revolves around Spencer.
Pitts has done a pretty good job at Guard, especially for a grocery sacker. Winston also seems to have found a home at RT. Weary and McKinny hopefully have another couple of good seasons in them. The glaring hole obviously is LT. Maybe I am reading something between the lines that is not there, but I have wondered why Spencer was on PUP instead of IR. Does that mean he was not too far from able to play? In any event, I think they will try to leave the line intact and grab a tackle in Round 3 (unless Jake Long falls to us at the 18'th pick... yeah, right).

What he said. Most of the talk I have heard about the LT position was that they wanted a young player to groom into the position under Salaam. Moving Pitts there wouldn't really be much of a solution but a stop gap.

Pitts at LT would probably make us one of the most penalized teams in football. Pitts has problems keeping his hands inside and frequently holds. At LG its harder to see. at LT it will be come obvious especially matched up against some of the premier pass rushers like Freeney.

Spencer may be ready but we wont know till he he is playing in full pads where he stands as a LT. Also the system if it is way different than what we ran the past 2 seasons, may move to a guard position possibly RG where weary is a UFA.

Butler wasn't even a LT in college but again system will dictate.

Winston , system will dictate but the past 2 years he has tried out at LT and last year even salaam beat him out.

Pitts actually played better at T than he has at G since they moved him from his College position. He has had more trouble with his hands at the guard spot than he ever had at the Tackle spot. If I had my way I would have made him our RT years ago (he has a lower body built for playing RT)...but they thought he would make a better G than a T....I don't think he will be moved all the same though. I think Kubiak wants a taller, lankier player on the edge.

I agree about us wanting a taller and at least longer guy at LT. Pitts did a decent patch job at LT while he was there. I dont remember too many holds, but I do remember at least 2 false start calls a game. His arms are a lot shorter than somebody else you'd typically see playing LT on a Gibbs' line.

Like I said it is harder to call when he is covered by the LT. However as a LT he was constantly getting flagged for holds.
