The author is talking about overrated pro-bowl players, and his first blurb is about QB Derek Anderson.
... His 82.5 season-long passer rating was lower than the passer ratings of Jay Cutler, Matt Schaub, Chad Pennington and Sage Rosenfels. ...
I know passer rating's just a stat but it's cool to see both of our qb's in a relatively distinguished list-- that is, unless this list is mentioned in a backhanded way.

Its a backhanded sort of way for Derek Anderson going to the Pro Bowl. It could be read as an insult to the other QBs but it more or less is just saying that they played better than Anderson but it doesn't say they played at any sort of elite level.
Full blurb
Derek Anderson, QB, Cleveland -- Anderson had nine games this past season with a passer rating of less than 80 and topped that mark only once in the final five games of the season. His 19 interceptions tied for fourth most in the NFL. His 82.5 season-long passer rating was lower than the passer ratings of Jay Cutler, Matt Schaub, Chad Pennington and Sage Rosenfels. Leading the Browns to 10 wins was impressive, but the sum of Anderson's accomplishments should not have equaled a trip to Honolulu.

Anderson was awful in the Pro Bowl but you have a week to learn your system and lead your team....probably a reason lots of QB's decline to go.

That's a great point-- plus the spectre of getting an injury would spook me more than a bit.

All part of it, Peyton and Big Ben did it. As well as Romo, although he basically had his entire team on the field. Nope no excuses. He just sucked it up. :D
The terminology was pretty basic. Moose was calling out formations and pass routes all game long just by overhearing the radio call into the QB, e.g., passing tree terminology coded into the play call. That's QB 101 stuff. Then there's the QB/WR friendly rules like no press coverage.

Couldn't agree more, AFC just went stale once he came in.

Anderson did play very poorly. I agree that he only had a week but if you watched the plays he just looked skitished. he was telagraphing his throws and wasent checking off his routes. He reminded me of a young Carr. All Clevelands offense is a deep threat, Watching him he would basically throw up the ball and let his recievers run under it. At the pro bowl it wasent the same, he hade to make the timing routes, out routes and posts and thats where he was making his mistakes.

Way too much thinking for a caveman.
After reading the article for the fifth time I still can figure out if that was a compliment for Matt and Sage or the writer just saying Anderson is average along with the rest of the QB's listed.
I think that's what he was trying to say.....stings a little....That was my impression.....I just wanted someone else to confirm it :(
