Biggest needs of course...OT, S, CB, RB, DE

1. RB Rashard Mendenhall- Big, quick, fast...all around RB. Provides the best value at 18 in terms of talent.

2. OT Chris Williams- Probably the best overall OT available at 18. Not dominant at any one aspect but very well rounded. Should be able to fit in a ZBS. Fits the biggest need and still has some upside.

3. RB Jonathan Stewart- Big, not as quick, but still a good all around RB

4. S Kenny Phillips- Safety is honestly a bigger need over CB in my opinion. Phillips has seen his stock drop lately, maybe he'll be there at 18.

5. CB Mike Jenkins- A guy with very good cover skills. Has the size to move over to safety if needed but needs to improve his tackling. I think he's the only CB I'd consider at 18 after Mckelvin. There isnt much difference in talent once you get to the 2nd tier at CB IMO (Flowers, Talib, Cason, Porter).

6. DE Phillip Merling- A very good all around DE who would fit nicely opposite Mario at 6'5 275lbs. Fits with Mario because you can move both between LE and RE and to confuse OT's during the game.

7. DE Calais Campbell- Big guy with monster upside but a bit raw. Not quite the athlete that Mario was coming out.

By elimination you gotta figure one of these guys will be there

Absolutely gone:
1) Jake Long
2) Dorsey
3) McFadden 4) Ryan 5) Sedrick 6) Gholston 7) C. Long 8) McKelvin

Likely gone:

9) Jenkins 10) Clady

That leaves one of these for the taking:

DB's: Phillips, Talib
DL: Harvey, Campbell, Merling
LB: Rivers
OL: C. Williams, Otah
RB: Mendenhall, Stewart

I've clearly got too much time but I imagine several of these guys will be around as late flyers from the combine along with some reaches and a WR probably as well.

i really dont like talib. he's got ballskills, but he's soft and doesn't know how to play physical. he's an average tackler at best and doesnt have true cover skills. ive seen him get burned quite a few times this year. dont let the PBU's or INT's fool you. i think he's a daymeion hughes (but a tad better speed) type guy who would be a great playmaker in a zone scheme but could struggle/bust in man coverage

Good thing, like about 75% of the league, we run a zone?

we ran more zone last year, but we usually run man coverage. running zone takes away from dunta's and fred's coverage ability. both can stick to hips. we had to compensate because dunta was out and we had petey, fletcher, and hutchins filling in.

I realize we need CB,RB,and so on. However, should Rivers fall to us at # 18 spot, I wouldn't mind seen him play next to DeMeco!!
