IMO We should move Boulware back to his old position and let him take over for Danny Clark at SLB and be an instant improvement. He is a lot better at stopping the run than he is at covering the pass and that has a lot to do with why he is merely a back up right now. Oh and his brother happened to be a good one too, you may have heard of him, Peter Boulware of the Baltimore Ravens?

I'd like to see what he could do at WLB but he doesn't have the size to play the strong side. At will he would add instant athletism and speed as well as coverage ability that desperately need.

His best year was under Rhodes. I would also like to get Trufant on a 1 year deal.

Trufant will probably be franchised, and if he isnt he will be signing a long term contract worth as much or more than Clements. He won't be a Texan and Rhodes won't be able to get him here considering Tru already said he wouldnt be giving a hometown discount to the Seahawks. Anyway, I would like to get Boulware on the field anyway possible, be it at SS (which I think makes the most sense) or trying him at WLB, which I think he could excel at. He's got loads of talent and potential, if our coaches can harness it, we will be a much better team.

The reason Boulware is playing Safety is because of his size, I wouldn't mind seeing him play on the weakside. He would have enough speed to close in on some plays and obviously the coverage. Too small though to play on the strong side.

This has got to be a joke. Boulware was moved to SS because he lacked the size for LB. 220 pounds is far too light for any LB, especially SLB. A lot of running backs are bigger than him.

Players dont want to be Franchised because of the 1 year deal....when they get to FA, they want to get PAID...he will want a BIG money deal....

He will want one, but while he is good, he isnt as good as Clements and that is why he wont get one as big as him. He will get a big money deal but it wont be 80 million.

FYI, rumor has it Josh Brown will get franchised and Trufant will be allowed to walk.

I assume the reasoning behind the thought of Boulware becoming the answer at SLB was because he once played that postion whenever he was in college. Its not his height, tackling ability or instincts that's keeping him from that postion, it's his lack of weight. So if somehow the guy gained 20 to 30 lbs then I'd like to see what he could do, but I seriously doubt he could gain that much weight during the off season. So I just don't see it happening!

Kubes had mentioned that he wanted to get Boulware on the field more this year. He made mention of the fact that he could be used at SS or possibly LB. I still think Demps and Boulware could be the fest saftey combination we have had.

I pretty much agree with what you say, except Trufant will not get a Clements type offer...not going to happen. JMO

while it's looking more and more like he won't get franchised, i really think he will get paid something very close to or more than clements.

"The "buzz at the Pro Bowl" is reportedly that free agent CB Marcus Trufant will get a bigger contract than Nate Clements this offseason.

Trufant took his game to another level in 2007 and it doesn't look like the Seahawks will pay the $8 million it would take to franchise him. Seattle has 2007 second-round pick Josh Wilson ready for a bigger role. -rotoworld.com"

Trufant 07:
played all 16 games, had 7 interceptions, 1TD, 15 passes defensed, and 85 tackles

Clements 06:
played all 16 games, had 3 interceptions, 1TD, 16 passes defensed, 70 tackles

Personally I think we are all way underestimating the money asante and marcus are going to get this offseason, and don't forget to take into account the fact the the cap went up again, AND for the first time in a very long time, most NFL teams are in good cap shape:

anyway...not to hijack the thread...I'm hoping Boulware can establish himself as SS where we have a bigger hole than LB and then we can ignore S in the draft (unless K Philips falls to us) and focus on DE in the draft that much more.

I don't care. If we're going to lock up a quality CB, I wouldn't have a problem with dropping the $$$ on him. With our defense CB is almost the most important defensive position IMO. We believe Bennett is a strong CB2, and we have no idea what will become of DROB as of now, so sign him, and if it's Clements money, it's Clements money. The we can draft a LT in the first round of the draft, and a RB in the third, and suddenly we have a playoff team. Plus a LT in the 1st will cost less than a RB at that position in the draft.

But back to the point.....So what if it takes Clements money....if we get a chance to sign him, then sign him to a 5 year deal, and get CB 1 and 2 wrapped up for years to come.

I love the Boulware's. I wish we could move him to linebacker but I really think he is too small. He lays the wood and isn't scared but I don't know. I also want to bring in Buster Davis to back up DeMeco so that we can try our backup at OLB. Like somebody already said though, with Ray Rhodes coaching DB's, I like our chances, and also am pulling for Trufant, though I will happily take a CB in the 1st. Trufant would allow us to develop that 1st rounder, or take a Free Safety (Kenny Phillips). Also I think Glen Earl will bounce back and contribute this year. Huge Florida State Fan by the way so I'm always for bringing in those guys, as well as my main team Tennessee. Heffney is a good choice to back up at FS if we lose C.C. Brown and can't get Phillips. Next year however is the year for the FS. 3/4 of the earth is covered by water, the rest is covered by my main man Myron Rolle.

If we cant get Trufant then i would say go for Flowers in the draft. i hear he is one that should be a top 10 pick and is going under the radar.

Whats under the radar to fans is common knowledge among scouts and executives.
