It doesn't say the Cowboys are cutting Adams, it says they're allowing him to test free agency. They haven't ruled out re-signing him but just putting him on the market says a lot. The Cowboys have dished out a lot of big contracts to their high profile players and it's starting to catch up with them.

Please bring us Jusin Smith,I would prefer a pass rusher, but having a runstopper is just as good.

Isn't Weaver a run stopper DE? My point exactly! Please get us another all around end not just a run stopper.

if i'm richard smith, i'm all over justin smith to get a powerful DE on the other side of Mario, and then go for a DB or S in the 1st round!

I can agree with this, but in my perfect world we would snatch up Trufant in FA as well and go with Stewart or Mendenhall in the 1st round, take a LT in the 3rd and Forte in the 4th...I'll let you guys pick the rest...I don't want to get greedy. Not saying any of that would happen but dudes..come on....Smith and Mario and Amobi / Trufant and Bennett / Boulware and Demps / Stewart or Mendenhall and Forte?!?!?!?!?

...straight up wicked!:DI like the way you think....but you are going to have to put the kool-aid up for the night.Your world is looking to perfect...acutally more scary than wicked!;)

Ugh, once again, no thanks on either of these guys. Adams is 31 and will want a huge contract, and Smith is nothing special.

Nothing Special is still better than what Weaver has produced in the 2 years he has been in a Texans Uni. Smith has had 9 sacks in the last 2 years, Weaver, a whooping 1, in 2 years. Smith might not be All Pro bit he would defiantly be an up grade over Weaver in my opinion....

Smith is an upgrade over Weaver in the same way that herpes is an upgrade over hepatitis. You really don't want either of them near you. Smith had a terrible year and doesn't really bring anything new to the table. He had 7.5 sacks in 2006...color me impressed . Admittedly, he's had a decent career up to 2007, but he doesn't bring what we need to this team. We'd be best off signing/drafting an edge rusher.

Give me Spicer or McCray their cheaper & better IMHO.

Both would be excellent additions to our team, while subtracting a key piece from a rival. Spicer has overcome his injury concerns, though he is a bit older, and McCray is the type of under the radar guy that Smith could target. Both should be cheap. I'd take either of them, with a preference towards McCray.

I like McCray better too. He's younger. Spicer is tougher & I believe he had more sacks last season.

7.5 sacks isn't impressive? Really? Dam you are a demanding one. Last year was Smith's worst year on a very dysfunctional Natti team. He has put up consistent numbers before last year so I don;t understand why you would want a 32 year old Spicer who has only had 2 good years in the league over a 28 year old De who has been pretty consistent through out his career until last year? Doesn't seem logical. Actually you say we'd, which you mean they, would be best off signing/drafting an edge rusher but I don't think there are any out there to sign is there? Suggs and Allen got franchised, so that is out, so whom else is there besides Smith, bring back Babin? If you draft a DE, and I am not against this one bit, but now you just make your D-line that much younger. You would have a rookie, 2nd year, 3rd year and a whom ever else plays DT. I would like to see some veteran presence there at De that can get more than 1 sack in 2 years and I think Smith could do so, much more than Weaver could.

Price is the key. We already have a lot of money invested in our DL, so we don't need another guy who will be overpriced. Regardless of reasoning, Smith had a bad season last year and wouldn't be a wise signing in terms of a money to value standpoint. Spicer and McCray are two options that won't break the bank and will fit what the team is trying to do better. Our veteran DE presence will be Kalu and possibly Weaver if we keep him another season.

Who is McCray?

Bobby McCray, DE, Jaguars (http://www.nfl.com/players/bobbymccray/profile?id=MCC663361)

I see, you really think Smith would come at a steep price though? I didn't think he would come at a Suggs or Allen price tag. Also who is McCray? You must be a biznas man cause you are thinking money and I am thinking stats....

I think Smith will be looking for a deal in the neighborhood of what Weaver got. I think 5 years, $25M, with about $10-12M guaranteed, is around what he'd fetch, but that's pure speculation. Suggs or Allen would cost much more than that. We can't afford that for a guy that gives us 1.25x as much as Weaver though. I'm not really into the money per se; I just like to think about all angles of the possibility before making a conclusion.

Ahhh, ok what about Odom from the Titans? they already used their tag on Fat Albert? Wouldn't he be a nice addition?

Odom would be a nice addition, but he's on the record saying he wants to stay in Tennessee, has only really had one good season, and may end up costing more than we want to spend. That said, getting Odom would be great.
