First off, let me admit I'm not a big numbers guy so you draft points experts don't crucify me for this but here's my idea.....
The Cowgirls are dangling Marion the Barbarian, not putting him on the trade block but seeing what people are willing to give up for him. Now, even if they offer his tender ($2.56 mil) another team can still get him if they give up a first and third rounder. At first it sounds bad...Texans give up a first and third, but if you think about this situation it makes sense.
Give the girls our 1st an third for Barber and a 2nd. That way we get a RB that is proven (our percievedst round pick anyways), then pick up a CB, SS in the 2nd round and trust Gibbs to be able to mold a fourth round pick into an effective ZB tackle. Then pick as we would have in the fifth-seventh rounds. So we are only really giving up a third round pick and getting a proven RB with some muscle and mean!!!
Let the crucifications begin!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually we don't have a second this year, and I would prefer to have Mendenhal if you want a RB. Just my two cents.

HWOOD 82 I like how you think outside the box. I wouldn't do the trade though because I like either Cromartie or C.Williams @ 18. What do you think about my idea of trading an 08 3rd and an 09 3rd for a 2nd in this years draft? Then we could draft a LT Collins Baker or Nicks.

He never said anything about giving up a 2nd Rounder. He DID mention RECEIVING a 2nd Rounder, though.

I want to get Cromartie in the 1st & a LT after a trade in the 2nd. The reason I wouldn't trade NO.18 is that I believe Cromartie is goingto be a great player.

Meh. I'd be very apathetic if this were to happen. Barber is kinda overrated in my opinion, so I don't think this trade would really be a good value. I think if we wanted a RB, we could get good value in the 3rd with a guy like Forte, who projects to be similar to Barber.

Any deal that envolves us trading with the Cowgirls has to be a bad one!

Drew Henson for a 3rd rounder was awesome! But then again, that 3rd rounder was used on Vernand Morency, who was traded for Samkon Gado, who was released. Lame.

Good point, although I don't think Marion is overarted at all - I mean have you seen this guy run?!?! WOW! But we use our second on Cromartie then skip the third round and get a moldable T in the fourth and we are set except for safety, but I think Demps/Boulware would be serviceable for the '08 season.

I'm a little stingy, maybe a '08 3rd and '09 fourth then I'd be good

Dam, that would get the Cowgirls 3-1st round picks, AND THEY STILL WOULD LOSE IN THE PLAYOFFS!
Yeah but if they had 3 first rounders they would find someone to trade for something in a package deal, maybe move up to get McFadden.

Hey, I think Forte will fall to us in the 3rd, and man when he does, he's gonna shock some folks. This kids is AWESOME! A bit raw but awesome none the less, if he's on the board late and we don't pick him up I'll be throwing all kinds of crap at the TV! Think Ahmad Bradshaw.

It would be real tough on your cap if you had to sign 3 1st rd picks.

Not at all so long as none are top 5-8.
As an example from last year's draft on three positions the Texans could have used:
Marshawn Lynch--5 years, $13.3 mil
Leon Hall--5 years, $11 mil
Joe Staley--5 years, $5.9 mil
That would be three players who are very cheap for their positions if they play anything to their potential. Only the very tippy top end of the draft is crazy where you are paying players more than the best at their positions. Everyone below 8-10 is a value if their "potential" pans out.
