The NFL Network talks about the top 5 DBs in the draft in a video (its called "path to the NFL: top 5 DBs"). Interestingly, they have Flowers as the top guy and say he is going under the radar and his 40 time is the only real question about him. he may run slower than most of the other DBs.

Doesn't he remind you of a certain some one we already have??? A superstud corner who can lay the smackdown on running backs

Lance Z has him at the top too, along with the kid from Indiana, Porter I believe.

Good! I just hope people ahead of us think that way about him as well. Tampa 2 teams like big, physical corners who have good quickness but sub-par speed. The Texans, however, don't run a Tampa 2; we run a 4-3 under/over style D. That should put players like Flowers and Jenkins on our "no" list.

If you want someone like Donta Robinson, look at McKelvin or Rodgers-Cromartie. Both of those guys are complete cover corners who can play man, press man, or zone coverage. To me, Flowers isn't as impressive. Yeah he hits hard, but so do little kids playing the wack-a-mole game at Chucky Cheese. Show me he can turn and run with a speed receiver like Harrison 30 yds downfield and I'll get on the wagon. Until then, he is just a prop to give the Texans more choices of the best talent come #18.

Huh? Tampa doesn't have a CB over 5' 11" or 190 lbs. Which Tampa 2 are you talking about? Tampa does expect their CB's to play run support but I hardly think they would turn down undersized Dunta in that area.

Actually its March 20th, so its a little earlier than the draft (by about a month, lol, if you consider that little) but i thought it sounded good as a thread title.

I am of the mind that we HAVE to pick a lineman or a DB in the 1st. if we trade back then i still think we have to get both early in the draft, no matter what we do in free agency. The need will still be there.

Only difference is Dunta can run with anyone and browner can't.

Look at the Chicago Bears who also run a tampa 2; neither Tillman nor Vasher are very fast (Vasher ran a 4.6 at the combine), but both were considered great corners just one year ago. Both are also very physical and play games similar to what Flowers has been lauded for.

Yeah, you are right, Tampa wouldn't turn down Robinson, but who would? The point isn't how tall their corners are, it is how they play the game.

Physical press man coverage + solid agility and tackling + good zone awareness + lack of deep speed = standard issue cover 2 corner.

Mine's the first day of the draft....hoing for a great birthday as far as the draft goes, other than that I'm getting too old to care about birthdays anymore.
