I'm disappointed in these two. IIRC, both ran near-4.7's at the Combine. I tend to not look at timed 40's when I evaluate Running Backs, but when I combine those slow times with their small sizes and I come away not very impressed.

I had a feeling that Hart would run slow, but Bernard's 4.8 40 blew me away. They both dropped their stock significantly. You can be small or slow, you can't be both in the NFL.

4.8 for Bernard? I didn't think it was that slow. One of the other coaches called me over the weekend and told me. I had always liked him in college.
Do you happen to know if Kalvin McRae from Ohio ran? If he was even there..?

Imagine what he can bust with a midget on his back dangling a hotdog weiner in front of his helmet!!!!!:D
He might only break 4.6even then, but i dont think anyone would be able to stop him until he got that hotdog. He would go along way.

He ran a 4.66 and came in at 5'9" 203. As for Bernard his official time is a 4.83. In an age when players can specifically and raise their 40 times, there's really no excuse for such a low 40. Maurice Clarett and Gary Russell both ran that time after being out of football for a year. I posted the link to all the results below, some pretty interesting times, Ray Rice and Kevin Smith looked great and I wouldn't mind either in the 3rd.

I haven't seen Benson play much, but Hart is a good RB that has ALOT of mileage. I will say this though, Domanick Davis was timed at 4.7 and he wasn't the biggest guy either but he was VERY effective.
After watching the Senior Bowl I think Choice would be an excellent late round selection. Runs N and S, decent speed, good balance and vision. Forte also looked great but with his size and 40 time he may not be there. I would also like the Texans to look at Kevin Smith.

Just messing around here, but what does N and S mean? Nice and Slow?
J/k, North and South. Though i hope any RB we get does alot more North and alot less South. (if he goes too far south here he'll end up in Mexico and then we'll never see him again.)

Dont worry, Toro will bring him back.

Link on Davis' 40 time? Everything I read had him in the high 4.4-4.5 range . . .

And one of the knocks on Davis was that he couldn't break the long ones and was more suited as a 3rd down back.

Yep, I saw that (nfldraftscout). I swear the chron had him listed at a 4.7. I remember thinking why the hell are taking a Rb that runs a 4.7. I even tried to find the article but I couldn't. I wonder if that is hand timed or electronically timed - not that it would make that much difference.
