View Full Version : What's with the 49ers and the RB position?

They just signed their backup RB Michael Robinson to a new deal, their star Frank Gore is under contract - and now PFT is saying they're getting DeShaun Foster. How much money do they intend on sinking into one position?

Also - if they're doing that as insurance in case Frank Gore goes down again - shouldn't they be going after a free agent RB who, oh, I dunno - doesn't have an even worse track record with injuries than Gore does?

Strange things going on over there. Maybe they're thinking about going to the increasingly popular one-two punch with Gore/Foster and Robinson coming off the bench? It just seems like a LOT of money for one position.

Yeah, I have to agree with what you said. But when it comes to RB's you can never have to many especially if you have a starter that's injury prone. Remind you of anyone?...lol

Heh, yeah no kidding.

Of course, now PFT is saying the report was premature... classic PFT.

But still, it shows they're willing to shell out a ton even if they don't sign him. It just seems like a team as bad as they were last year would have more pressing issues.

I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to take some of the load off of Gore to try and keep him fresher. Foster hasn't proven to be any more reliable but maybe they're hoping between the two of them that they can make it work.
