Since we're signing depth at CB and hopefully RB in FA, I say we go OL with our first pick. That's where it all starts. Salaam was an ok fill in and Jordan Black was hurt wasn't he? Since this draft is heavy with RB's and DB's I say we go after Vandy LT Chris Williams. I watched this guy during the combine and he had a pretty impressive workout. Ephraim did ok for us last year but I saw him jus get dominated a bunch on that left side. Williams has good feet, long arms and did well in the drills. Don't get me wrong I would love to get Rogers-Cromartie but lets be serious, after that combine work out he won't fall to us at #18. If he did then, Right on! But I wouldn't mind goin OL in the first round. They keep sayin the game is won in the trenches, since we spent all that money on the DL how about a little love for the OL!!!??

Since DBs are so deep and Coaches feel there will be good ones available in RDs 3 & 4, ala Fred Bennett I am going with, DERRICK HARVEY, DE, FLORIDA.
If they trade for Lito Sheppard that takes away need for DB and the 3rd RD pick. And because Kubiak and Gibbs have never drafted a OL/RB in RD 1.

I really doubt we sign a RB in FA. I hope we make a run at Sheppard and if we sign Hadnot, McKinney could move to right guard. Our only need at that point would be the all important left tackle. I think it will come down to which players are available at #18. If it is a choice between J-Stew and Mendenhall and maybe Chris Williams of Vanderbilt, I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up a franchise RB and try to make the offense work with what we have on the line.

I think we need to go OL in the first. The DBs we have now held their own last year even with the injuries, plugging holes with backups. They'll do better this year and we can beef them up in the 3rd and later.
Schaub got knocked out of the game (for several games) behind the OL we currently field. Yeah I know, Gibbs is here and he can do wonders, but that same mind set applies to the RBs as well. I'd love to package Sage and our #1 for a shot at Long or Clady but I'm dreaming, I know.
Otah's not that far out of our grasp and Chris Williams may be there at 18.
If we can get our "2" back, we could pick up Matt Forte in the 2nd. Plug holes in the D backfield from there on out.

There are better OT's in the later rounds that fit Gibbs's ZBS better than guys Otah. Claddy and Long would be ideal, howevere, they wil be long gone before we pick at #18. Guys like Benedict or Brown can be obtainable later in the rounds. And I really don't think that we a re that far off from our O-line already being complete.

I cant believe I am going to say this... If mendenhall is available and Kiper says hes gonna be... Draft him. I hope #1mendenhallfan is right, and he is good enogh to use our 1 top round pick on.

Tell that to Carr, who's gonna end up in a mental hospital, or Schaub and his busted shoulder...

The Oilers made huge strides once they drafted Munchac and Mattews, these two anchored their OL for a decade. If we don't invest some high picks in the OL, we'll never have consistent protection for Schaub or have a top 5 running game.
I know the OL made strides last year, but Schaub still missed what, 4 or 5 games 'cause he got nailed? I know picking an O-lineman in the first isn't as exciting as picking a RB, but guys, we get a quality OL and with Gibbs, we don't need a top tier RB with this "Gibbs System" we'll be running, right? I think that's what everyone was saying when we hired this guy.
Dosen't make any difference who's in at QB or RB if the defense is in our backfield.
I keep thinking of the game where we had 3 or 4 shots at the end zone from inside the 2 or 3 and couldn't move the ball in on the ground. We can't have that and expect to move out of mediocraty.
