ALGE IS A TITAN

On Friday, there were reports that free-agent tight end Alge Crumpler was poised to sign with the Seahawks.

It didn't happen.

Instead, Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that Crumpler has joined the Titans, a team flush with cap space and in desperate need of a boost to the passing game.

Crumpler became a Pro Bowler in Atlanta while playing with a run-oriented quarterback who often found Crumpler open while scramblin in the pocket.

So, basically, Crumpler could be a Pro Bowler again in Tennessee.

--------------------------------------------------------------

He's a helluva player, we'll need to take him into account when we blitz VY cause he's a great blocker.

well this isn't good news for us...we typically don't fair too well against better TE's in the league...haha...you need a solid SOLB to keep up with them...which we don't have yet...so yeah this hurts

I say let the Tacks have Crumpler.Come next season they will finally be able to figure out that their problem wasn't the OC but the child slinging the ball.

Crumpler is a great TE, but the Titans QB has to actually throw the ball to him. And from what I've seen he hasn't had much success in that area. The Tacks biggest threat to us is still their defense.

Oh no, not Alge Crumpler! We're doomed!

Perfect addition to their sandlot passing game.

There's a whole lot more to the TE position than catching passes....like blocking

CRUMPLER'S AGENT DENIES REPORT OF TITANIC DEAL

In response to a report that tight end Alge Crumpler has agreed to terms with the Tennessee Titans, Crumpler's agent denied that a deal is done.

''Where did you see that report?" agent James Williams told TitansRadio.com. "We talked on Sunday, lets put it that way. He has not signed a contract nor agreed to anything.''

Stay tuned.

I predict a lot of crow will be eaten over this thread next year. Crumpler is a legit threat regardless of who's throwing him the ball. Take the blinders off folks, so far other teams including our division rivals, have signed some pretty decent talent in free agency and we haven't. There's still plenty of time left but we have not significantly improved our team yet and others have.

People seem to forget that one of VYs biggets targets at UT was Bo Scaife a TE.

People seem to forget Ben Troupe was a big target in TN until VY and Scaife got there. Crumpler is looking at #2 TE numbers next year, but VY may be much more effective overall with a lot of TE passing.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. Young likes to throw to his TE and Crumpler is much better than Scaife IMO. As much as I hate to say it, this was a pretty good deal for the Tacks and that's never good for us.

Yeah that's what I was saying. Seems that they are beefing up on the dink and dunk to fit VYs style more. Alot of two TE sets and plays like that.

VY is better than MV.I hope he retires before we face the ticky tackys.

VY is better than MV.

On what potential remains, absolutely, but based on their first two years in the league, that is an absurd statement.

Let's just go with a passing stat (1st two years) since this is about Crumpler:

MV 35 TD's, 26 INT's
VY 21 TD's, 30 INT's

IMO, Troupe played his way out of Tennessee. he was very inconsistent and had the injury bug I think the last season McNair was in Tenneessee. He was the reason they drafted Scaife to begin with. That and the fact Erron Kinney had like 3 microfracture surgeries....Say what you want, but this is a great pick up for Vince and our offense. We haven't had a decent TE since Wycheck retired.

I guess I should have clarified my statement.VY will have better stats in the long run and he will most likely be in the league longer. So I do not agree with you saying that it is an absurd statement.

I remember all the Troupe talk a few years ago. Stuff like 're-defining' the TE position and Gates and Gonzalez move over crap. They had Randy Starks going to the Hall of Fame for a while too. Both of those worked out well... it almost vindicates the Babin move-up. Wasn't Odom part of that mess too?

That play is an apples-to-apples comparison to Young. Young's best play so far was his "this is my house" run in overtime at Reliant. Young is just a taller, right-handed version of Vick with less speed and arm strength. I never really understood what the allure was.

Randy Starks ripped off Parcells. Believe it or not, the guy has some talent. He only plays when he wants. As depleted as our DT's were last season, he still couldn't see the field. Heck, we brought up a guy from the practice squad. I couldn't believe he got 5 yr. $21 mil. They could've given that to GOTEXANS...i'm sure he could've done a better job.

Vincesanity10

You mean the one where Osi Umenyiora had Young for a sack that would have ended the game i believe and he let him go for fear of getting another roughing the passer penalty and VY scampers for 20 yards? I chalk that one up to a rookie mistake, not a highlight....

You don't have to be a Titans fan to know that was a game saving highlight...YOU believe. And it was Mathias Kiawhatever. Even though he broke that tackle, he still ran 20 yards for the 1st on 4th and 17. So because nobody else tackled him,not Strahan, Umenyiora, none of the vets, that makes it a rookie mistake.

Pretty much every body except Vince thought that play was dead. But I can't blame Vince for taking adavantage of a dumb play by Kiwanuka.

Didn't everybody stop on the play? Everyone was standing around and VY took off, that is how I remember it....

I wasn't the one that called it a rookie mistake, the guys own coach called a rookie mistake, and it was. Play till you hear a whistle. That one play lost the game for the Giants....

I remember Coughlin saying it was a rookie mistake. My bad if you thought i was saying you said it. C'mon man funny how EVERYONE would stop on one play though. Coughlin was covering up for his team. Like i said, you don't have to be a fan, but it still was a great play.

I think that the run in Reliant was good only because it won the game. His TD run in Buffalo seemed to me to be better because you could see the blocks setting up and all. The difference was that it was leading to the half.
