View Full Version : The Perfect Start to the Draft

The perfect start to the Draft for the Texans would be if we took Rashard Mendenhall in Round 1 and either Jermichael Finley or Martellus Bennett in Round 3. Dustin Keller in Round 3 would also be a very nice pick. Spread offenses make smaller TEs like Keller (6'2") more valuable. Jermichael Finley is a freak in the making...super athletic. Martellus reminds me of Antonio Gates, but with the potential to be EVEN better.

I would be O.K. if we picked Mendenhal if DRC, Williams, & Jenkins are off the board.

I don't know if we need another TE. Owen Daniels seems fine to me. I guess if they are the BPA, but we could also find a late round OT if we don't get one in round 1.

we both know they wont take a TE in round 3 when we have bigger holes to fill. we've already got 4 WR's capable of starting plus Owen Daniels. i see the point youre trying to make, but its not gonna happen

Do you think Mendenhall will fall to us? Don't get me wrong he's the number one player I want in the draft that's reasonable, but with his recent success at the combine and his ever growing hype I just don't see him making it all the way to us. Here's to hoping though.

I'm agreeing with you...like everyone says, our coaching staff doesn't like drafting RB's in the first round. I think we are going secondary with round one., now with them eying Warrick Dunn. I think Daniels is a great tight end and we have pretty good depth at the position so I dont think we'll stock it up with all the pressing needs that our team needs.

To me, I would really like Williams in rd 1, the best CB in 3 (unless a stud RB is there) then a either RB or CB in the 4th, depending on what we do in rd3. Then just go BPA.

After Daniels, we only have Bruener...who has a year or so left. Dreessen's also not the 2nd TE we need. A freaky athletic TE like Bennett in Rd 3 would do wonders in helping the flexibility of our offense.

our offense really isnt the problem. TE is a luxury, not a need. DE, DB, OT...those are needs that will do even more wonders for this team.

plus this is a pretty deep TE class. we dont need one in the 3rd.

I go to A&M and i love Bennett more than anyone on this board (no hom o), but i got over the idea of us drafting him a long time ago.

To be honest, i'd be a little pissed if they went TE over some HUGE concerns like humm....i dont know...CB,S,OT,RB,LB,DE...see where i'm going here? Having another decent TE will not benefit a team thats down by 21 to Manning's team burning our cb's deep or freeney/haynesworth standing over Schaub in the backfield.

TE is not even in our sights for this draft. We are pretty much set wih Kubiak kind of TE's with Daneils,Dressen,Bruener(might be the only 1 replaced). Remember Dressen is the reason Putzier was let go. Dressen showed some potential esp. in the Saints game. TE is not worth a draft pick this year, the picks we have are pretty much accounted for with other needs.

Absolutely no way that Mendenhall falls to the Texans. His stock is rising. He is an absolute beast. I think that we have a chance at Stuart. I would try and trade down and pick up a second. I don't think we need a RB. I want a LT, CB or FS.

Yea TE is going to be very far down the texans priority list. I expect the top 3 picks to be CB,LT,RB(in no particular order)

Not feeling the TE pick with CB and OT as major needs.
