Tommy seemingly had a pretty solid pro-day.

You would have to be confident that Blake would not have a recurring bout of depression and anxiety order.

Yeah, not only a bout, but isn't he actually DIAGNOSED as bi-polar or manic-depressive?

I'll pass.

If he's a late round pick...5th-7th...he'd be relatively cuttable if need be. I have read numerous articles that he got his meds and he knows what's needed to keep it under control. A guy who was viewed as a top-five pick a year ago is worth a flier any day.

I agree with your logic - but I don't like it for OUR team, unless the F.O. feels the same way. We made a good pick with our 7th last year in Zach Diles, and he's going to compete for a starting job this year.

EDIT - all that said, if he seems to have turned himself around, then yeah, he's a low risk player. I've seen him described as having 1st round talent, but that he's just not likely to remain stable.

A bipolar disorder would work to his advantage on the football field.

not necessarily. Yes the bipolar mood would work when he is at his highs but during his lows (depression) that wouldn't serve to well on a football field, plus its not like one can control when the highs and lows set in.

Hence the medication.

A person who's Bi-Polar is as normal and rational as anyone else as long as they are on the proper medication and they take the medication as prescribed. If he's any good I wouldn't let Bi-Polar disorder keep me from picking a player. Hopefully other teams will overlook him for these reasons and we can pick up a late round gem.

Mental illness tends to have more of a negative stigma in this county. Just as you said...like other illness, it can be treated and when treated, a person can get along very well in life like anybody else.

I imagine he'd be a 4th or 5th based simply on upside. I wouldn't mind seeing him slip to our 5th.
