You never know, he might fall to the 2nd or 3rd and be the steal of the draft.

We can still pick him up later and not use him for the first half of the season

I doubt he'd fall to our pick in the 3rd round though

I guess drafting a rb in the first is out of the question.

Look at Michael Bush last year. Was a better prospect than Stewart and fell into the 4th round b/c of injury!
If he's still on the board in the 3rd we'd have to STRONGLY consider taking him. With Brown, Green, Walker, Taylor we could afford to wait for him to get healthy!
According to John McClain of the chronic, the Texans will still probably take a RB somewhere in the Draft. But what does he know!:)

michael bush was NOT a better prospect. he was big and had decent speed but played alot less physical than he should for a man his size. plus he had a CAREER THREATENING injury...one of the worst broken legs ive seen similar to dunta's injury except he broke his leg and didnt tear any tendons.

Wasn't Michael Bush before his injury supposed to be a top 15 pick?

If he didn't get hurt and played his senior year, they feel he would have put up numbers to warrant a top 15 pick.

he was always the #3 RB behind AD and Lynch. if he was healthy and run at the combine, i think his stock would fall a bit. he's not as fast as people make him out to be. he's a 4.5-4.55, maybe even slower. he was nowhere near a top 15 pick even when healthy. late 1st-early 2nd. maybe he goes higher because of a weak RB class, but not top 15

I hope we wait and take a RB later in the Draft, we have other more pressing needs!

EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon running back Jonathan Stewart has returned to Eugene from Charlotte, N.C., where he underwent toe surgery on his right big toe Wednesday to repair a "turf toe" injury he suffered Nov. 15 at Arizona.
Recovery is expected to take four to six months, preventing Stewart from working out for scouts as scheduled at Oregon's second pro day and potentially hurting his stock heading into the NFL draft April 26-27.
But his agent, Ben Dogra, said the 45-minute procedure went smoothly and that Stewart would be ready for training camp in July.
He is expected by many to be a first-round draft pick.
"At the same time there's nothing you can do about it," said Stewart. "So there's no need to stress about it."
Some predict Stewart will go to Arizona at No. 16 or Houston at No. 18.
The toe was not healing on its own, so NFL general managers and scouts recommended that Stewart have the surgery now rather than risk missing training camp or games, Dorga said.
I'd take him if he's there and let Ahman go.

No ? bout it, I would take him at 18. With the RB's we have now, I think we could let him rest & rehab, but I also understand if we go a different route than Stewart.

What's the matter splint? He's a big back, it's only turf toe, he's young, he played on a good college team? You think he's going to want to much to sign?

Allright HS, I see your links, thanks for spending the time to check those out. I don't have the patience to read through those threads.

I know, but the bullpen is where all the cool kids hang out.
I deliberated and they did mention Houstan by name, I felt a relavence. Mods can kick it to the Draft Boards if they choose.

Me too... especially with A-1 sauce.
Anyway, I am sticking with fix the O-Line and DBs in rounds 1 and 3 and go after a stud RB next year. We are not going to fill all the holes this year, so grab a LT that will help keep Matt alive and a CB that doesn't have to play "soft" and give up 10 to 20 yards a play. With the upgrade that Gibbs will bring to the O-Line and our current crop of RB's I am thinking the running game will be better this year without drafting an injured player... even if it looks like he will be healthy by early in the season.

The texans can probably trade down and still get him and put him on the shelf until next year when Ahman Green will done here.
