I have only been to a couple of Texans games and I am so excited to have tickets to the Denver game this year. Before I had a parking pass, but I do not have one for this game.

I was looking at the Metro Rail options and parking at the Fannin South Park 'n Ride. Has anybody done this? And if so, how crowded is the parking lot? How early should I get there before game time? I definitely want to be in my seat when they introduce the players.

Before I got my Blue lot season parking passes I parked across the street from holiday inn. The holiday inn is next to the Red parking lot on the corner of Kirby and La concha street.

if you use the park 'n ride, i suggest you get there at least an hour before the game. on big games this may not be enough time. you might want to invest in a parking pass to insure you see the introduction of the player.

If you want to save money on parking and take metrorail, park in downtown houston. On Sundays parking is free on streets. Or if you want you can park at the Smithfield metrorail stop. Take Fannin north off 610 and follow it a couple of miles. Parking is 5 dollars there...cheaper than the Fannin Lot.

one thing you must remember, this is a thursday, night game so the metro-rail will be much more busier than on a sunday. with this in mind you might really want to get a parking pass or plan to get to the game very early.

one more helpful hint caught the metro-rail as far away from the stadium as you can if you are north of reliant stadium, because i have experienced train after train passing me by with no room and missing kickoff. i'm glad to pay a little extra to have my parking passes

Thanks for the advice. Free.Agent, I think you have just convinced me to buy a parking pass. We just got back from Colorado and took the light rail to the Rockies vs. Yankees game and the train was packed full - no room. We ended up taking the other line and walked 8 blocks when we got there. I would rather not fight that and miss the intros because I was trying to save a few $$$ on a parking pass.

IMO, the rail is the best option for out of towners. It essentially only runs from downtown to Reliant (we only have one line). And it really on hits capacity going from Reliant to downtown AFTER events. Then you may have to wait for 3, 4 trains before you an get on. Not sure if that holds true for football (I've only taken it for the redeo).
There may be a wait if you're scrambling an hour before game time. Just get downtown 3, 4 hours before kickoff. Plnty of time to ride the rail, then enjoy some tailgating at Reliant before you go in :)

It depends on where you are staying. It makes little sense to ride the train if you aren't staying downtown or in the Rice/Med Ctr area. If you are considering driving to the South Fannin lot, just buy a parking pass on ticketmaster and you can park in the stadium parking lot. People don't realize you can buy parking passes (Purple?) on t-master. It's the lot at the corner of Fannin and the 610 feeder by the Astro Arena. They won't be available until single game tix go on sale -- something around 22 bucks with all fees.. As far as hotels, I'd rather stay at the Galleria than downtown anyway. Take a cab if you can't get a parking p****.
