Glad to hear he's back. Gives more than depth at the position. Several threads were talking about our line and RG was the only true ??? mark. Weary is more of a mauler type blocker, so I don't know how well he fits into the ZBS, but he's definitely the only proven caliber RG on our roster as of right now. We have several men with upside but with little experience (brisiel, eslinger), and a couple projects (spencer, frye, studdard). Hopefully he will be 100% and we'll see true competition from the young gent's pushing to take his spot.

i was about to post this.. but anyways, i love this resigning because personally, i thought he was much better than chester pitts last season. Chester had too many penalties and mental breakdowns in games that cost us lots of potential 1st downs. Weary, i never heard much of during the games which is a good thing ( no penalties). I think weary should start at RG and spencer, if he is healthy and shows flashes of his rookie season , should start at LG.

This is what kinda worries me with Spencer plying RG. Is he mobile enuf cuz I really cant remember if he is or not. Signing Weary for 1 yr means the writing is on the wall for 1 of the young gaurds to step up & earn a job. Gonna be very interesting!!!

spencer,if i remember correctly was a mauler type but pretty athletic for his size. i think he'd help out our run game at LG .. more so than chester. I think chester is too soft to play the position ( i know im going to get beat up for this statement ).

Weary is a good fit for the ZBS but he also happens to be pretty strong which is rare for a Zone-Blocking lineman.Glad we resigned him though,at least he knows the system better than our other RG candidates.

The key is that he has recovered well and will be ready for training camp. Great news there.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble but didn't he have a broken leg or blow out knee towards the end of last season? I don't remember the specific injury but I remember it was serious. How can he come back from that in less than a year and be ready for training camp.

See article:
Weary, an original Texan, suffered a fractured tibia and fibula. The Texans say he made great progress in his recovery and will be 100 percent before the start of training camp.

I don't see him being much of a contributor but atleast he's depth

I'm glad to see Weary getting a chance to come back from his injury. He's played hard for the Texans since their inception.

I'm really surprised how quickly he was able to heal from his two injuries.

the broken leg wasn't near the knee cap, like spencers, so he just needed to heal the bone.
I like the re-signing. He's a good guard. intelligent, and quick. knows the zbs.
I think the guy who is on the bubble will be spencer. he hasn't played in two years, not sure if he knows the zbs. has been on the payroll now for two years with no result. Only asset is that he's big and thick, and strong up top. it will be interesting to see if the leg strength is there once the D linemen start leaning on him?

one thing is for sure...we will have some serious competition at that RG spot...you figure they'll have weary pencilled in as the starter...then you have mike brisiel who played well in his place...kasey studdard who has some solid potential and on top of them you have charles spencer who will probably be moved inside...should be interesting to see who comes out on top after training camp
