I know its a good ways away, but I was just reading on NFL.com about how Jake Long is impressing everyone in mini-camp; I can't wait to see how well Mario performs going up against him in October. I wonder how much hype it will get, having two number one overall picks go head to head. Here's to Mario going to the Pro Bowl!!
Mario should prevail over a rook!

Mario will prevail over just about every OT in the league!

One reason why mario could win this battle is because of his speed. Jake long has a tough time against speed rushers. I guess having experience helps a bit too.

Usually the DE has the advantage as far as counting it as a win... If the DE gets one single sack... then you might say it is a win... So if he is kept out all the other times except that one time... is it a win...
But it will be interesting to see... but so will Mario against the more experienced OT's every week. I'm ready for some football.

Exactly....a single sack by the DE and people will say Mario OWNED Long...where as Long can keep him contained on 50 or so other plays and it will go unnoticed...Winston Justice got owned by Osi last year...lets hope for a performance like that

I have a feeling that nobody will be "owning" Jake Long. The dude looks legit

Thats why I think this will be such a great match-up. There aren't too many people who would argue against Jake Long being the number one overall pick. However, as we all know there were many people who thought Mario wasn't worthy of the pick. This is a unique oppurtunity where two number ones on each side of the line will go head to head and it will give Mario the perfect stage to show that he is one of the elite pass rushers in the league if he rises to the oppurtunity, which I'm confident he will.

Didn't he only give up 1 sack during his college career? 1 sack by Mario will mean Long got "owned".

I think I read somewhere that Long gave up 2 sacks his whole career with one of them being against Gholston this past year. Mario > Gholston so I'm expecting to get at least 1 against him too.

First season or 2, the great DE's will win afew with Long. But, after that, the wins will be few and far between. Long is a legit stud, and he isn't going to blow plays much after the 1st year or 2.

Mario may not even play against him. Mario is playing more LDE than RDE.

True, but mid way last year he was over on the left side a lot more than just for passing downs and if Weaver is back and can play the run on the rightside with Cochran or ND coming in on passing I don't see Mario over on the right side much.

Just noticed this but it looks like Jake will get a chance to have rematch with Gholston in the first game of the season since Dolphins will be hosting the Jets
Hmmm...I think I'll have another ice cream cone while I ponder this most intriguing question. Mario or Long...hmmm...have to get back with you on that one.

Mario Williams drinks thunder and pisses lightning. Jake Long shouldn't be allowed to drink the sweat off Mario's jockstrap.

I always have looked really heavily into the top offensive tackles entering the nfl ever since houston got the texans... From Robert Gallery to Jake Long. For some reason out of Robert Gallery, D Brickashaw Ferguson, Joe Thomas, and Jake Long I was the least impressed with Jake Long. I don't have any numbers or anything to back my point up with I am just saying from straight game tape that I have watched. He just never seemed like a dominant blocker like people label him... Coming out of college I thought Thomas and Ferguson looked much better then Long...but thats just me.
I hope Mario Williams destroys him though =)
